At Oak Heart Veterinary Hospital, we are committed to providing comprehensive care for your pets. Due to recent changes, we have made the decision to temporarily suspend our overnight emergency services beginning March 17, 2025.

However, Oak Heart Veterinary Hospital & Emergency at South Saunders will remain open for emergency and urgent care services, Monday – Sunday, from 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM.

We continue to operate as more than an urgent care facility. As a fully equipped emergency and critical care hospital, we are prepared to handle a wide range of emergency, surgical, and urgent care cases while remaining affordable.

Additionally, we will continue offering sick patient care at our Dixie Trail, Longview, and Person Street locations during regular business hours.

For emergencies after 10:00 PM, our sister hospital, Wake Veterinary Medical Center, is available for overnight and hospitalized care. If your pet at Oak Heart South Saunders requires hospitalization, we can seamlessly arrange transfers to Wake Veterinary Medical Center.

🐾 PET OF THE MONTH - LONGVIEW 🐾

This is Tango, our pet of the month winner for our Longview location! 🏅💕

Tango is a 5-pound pup with a big personality! 🐶 He is half American, half Ecuadorian, and all charm 🇺🇸🇪🇨🍀 He loves belly rubs, playing with his Schnauzer and Chihuahua fam, and making sure he’s the center of attention. Whether he’s exploring or curled up for a nap 😴 he always brings joy wherever he goes 🥰🦴

ATTENTION!! This sweet boy came to us and was set to be euthanized due to reactivity towards small dogs. He is currently in the care of our South Saunders location, but desperately needs somewhere to stay. He is 8 months old and 36lb. He’s great with people and larger dogs. If you or anyone you know is in a position to help, please reach out! Shelters are currently full and not accepting surrenders.

Meet Spicy! 🌶️ This cutie was adopted by one of our own at Person Street, Laney. Don’t let her small size fool you—Spicy has a big personality! 🐶🐾 She’s curious, spunky, clever 🔎 and always ready for an adventure. A few of her favorite things are sniffaris at Duke Gardens 🪴⛲️ her heated blanket, and her trusty lamb chop 🐑 which she carries around when she’s having big feelings. If Spicy had a walk-up song, it would definitely be ‘Mean girls’ by Charli xcx 🩷💚

This is Trudy and Mick, our pet of the month winners for our Dixie Trail location! 🥇 🎉

Trudy (right) is a 4-year-old fluffy Rottweiler-Husky mix who loves napping with her cat, Squid, playing soccer, and capping off the zoomies with a dramatic dry heave 💤🐈‍⬛ ⚽️

Mick (left) is a 1-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound whose charm has won him countless friends at the downtown Cary dog park—though his enthusiastic baying has made him slightly less popular with the park-side residents ☘️🫶🥰

Their pawrents own Raleigh Pet Photography () and offer a variety of pet portrait services! 🐶📸

ATTENTION! Oak Heart at Person Street, along with the South Saunders pet resort, will be opening at 1:00 PM on February 20th due to inclement weather. The Longview and Dixie Trail Locations will be closed.

We will be monitoring the weather closely and will post any further updates on our social media and website as needed.

🐾 PET OF THE MONTH - PERSON ST 🐾

This is Basil, our pet of the month winner for our Person St location! 🥇🎉

Basil was born in Wisconsin and is a 3 year old vizsla. She shows in conformation around North Carolina as well as Wisconsin/Minnesota in the summers 🤩☀️ She loves to smile and sits on anyone who gets down to her level. She has an endless void for a stomach and a terrible counter surfing habit. She has a Vizsla brother and German Shorthair Pointer sister that she absolutely loves to annoy, and a rescue dog as her bff 🐶🦴 She was recently named as the fastest vizsla in the US (don’t tell her she isn’t #1!) 🐕🏆

We love her dearly, she’s such a sweet girl and loves making friends and spending time at markets and getting all the attention she can! ❤️🐾

This is Buster, our pet of the month winner for our Dixie Trail location! 🎉🥇 Buster is a 4 year-old Maltese-Shih Tzu mix who has been a loyal patient at Oak Heart for his entire life! He is 9 lbs of fluff with an impressive underbite. He loves to keep watch over his house and neighborhood, and he makes his voice heard when he spots something 🧐🔎 A true ladies man, Buster's favorite activities are snuggling with his human siblings and parents, romping on the beach, riding in golf carts, and playing with his fur-cousin, Scarlett 🏖️❤️ His family is grateful for his unconditional love, devotion and constant companionship 🐶🦴 Way to go Buster!
