Tequila is a 14-year-old Chestnut Haflinger mare standing at 12.3 hands. She's an absolute doll, and would be ideal for a child learning to ride or someone who's vertically challenged, and seeking a nice, safe horse that's easy to get on and off. She's solid and built like a brick house, and can carry riders up to 185 lbs. By definition, a Haflinger is a draft pony, so they are able to accommodate heavier riders than the average equine at a comparable height.
I have owned Tequila for more than a year. She has been taking kids ages 6 and up and adults out on our trails to enjoy wooded scenery, creek crossings, and rolling hills. She can be ridden with a saddle or without. She has a great back for riding ba****ck. Watch the video on Dead Broke Farm's website as one of our guides easily sits to her canter while riding her ba****ck. She has a nice, slow and smooth jog too. We also use her for our summer camp program, birthday parties, and pony rides. She's easy going in the pasture with her pasture mates, and she's an easy keeper. (She gets only 1/2 scoop of grain twice a day and free choice grass hay - fescue and coastal.)
Tequila loves people and attention. She comes to greet you in the pasture; you don't have to 'catch' her. You and your farrier will appreciate how easy it is to care for her feet. She literally GIVES you all 4 feet when asked. You'll have no problem bathing her, loading and unloading her in a horse trailer, or spraying her for flies either. Watch the video on Dead Broke Farm's website as she is loaded and unloaded in just 21 seconds! This little mare rides so quiet, you can just hop on her, and ride her ba****ck around the farm. She's just a real pleasant horse to have around. This sweet Haflinger would be a great addition to your family. Nine thousand.

Come ride more than 10 miles of wooded trails at Dead Broke Farm – a 110-acre farm conveniently located in Raleigh, NC. Our bridle trails have rolling hills, creek crossings, lots of beautiful hardwood trees, and wildlife. Deer, cranes, and turkeys are often spotted on our trails. Our trails are suitable for beginners but challenging enough to be interesting for more experienced riders.

Chief is a 15-year-old Varnish Red Roan Appaloosa gelding standing at about 14.3 hands. His mane and tail are pretty impressive for an App. He's ideal for teens and adults with a little riding experience. He's absolutely safe - no bucking, bolting, rearing, or bronc antics, but he's not a deadhead. Anyone with a tad bit of riding experience who isn't afraid to trot and use their reins can ride him. He is one of my guides' favorite horses to ride because he enjoys going out on the trails. He just isn't suitable for young kids just learning to ride or adults who've lost their confidence.
