🐾🎄 Holiday Pet Safety Alert! 🔥

The holidays bring warmth and joy, but they can also pose hidden fire hazards for our furry friends. Here are some important tips from Alta Loma Animal Hospital to keep your pets safe this season:
1. Keep Candles Out of Reach – Curious paws and tails can easily knock over candles. Opt for flameless ones instead!
2. Secure Christmas Trees & Decorations – Ensure your tree is stable, and keep ornaments, tinsel, and lights out of reach. Pets love to chew, and some decorations can be dangerous.
3. Beware of Space Heaters & Fireplaces – Keep pets at a safe distance from heating sources to prevent burns or accidental fires.
4. Avoid Toxic Plants – Poinsettias, holly, and mistletoe are toxic to pets. Keep them out of reach!
5. Electrical Cords & Lights – Pets may chew on cords. Use protective covers and unplug when

🦴✨ Holiday Travel Tips for Your Pets from Alta Loma Animal Hospital! ✨🐾

The holiday season is upon us, and we know many of you will be hitting the road or flying to see family. Don’t forget to keep your furry friends’ safety and comfort in mind! Here are a few essential tips for traveling with your pets:
1. Pre-Trip Checkup 🩺: Schedule a visit to the vet to ensure your pet is healthy and up-to-date on vaccinations. It’s especially important if you’re traveling to new places.
2. ID & Microchip 🏷️: Make sure your pet’s ID tag is current and consider getting them microchipped for extra peace of mind while traveling.
3. Travel Essentials 🧳: Bring your pet’s food, water, medications, leash, and bedding to keep them comfortable. Familiar items will reduce stress.
4. Safe Transportation 🚗: Always use a secure carrier or harness when driving. For flights, check with the airline about their pet travel policies.
5. Stay Calm 🧘‍♂️: Pets can sense your stress, so try to stay calm during the journey. A relaxed traveler makes for a relaxed pet!

The holidays are a time for joy, but they can also bring a lot of noise and chaos—especially for our pets. 🐾✨ This season, let’s create a stress-free environment for our furry friends so they can enjoy the festivities too!

Here are a few tips to help keep your pets calm and comfortable during the holidays:
1. Safe Space: Create a quiet, cozy spot where your pet can retreat if they need a break from the hustle and bustle.
2. Routine: Keep feeding and playtime schedules as normal as possible to reduce anxiety.
3. Visitors: If your pet is nervous around strangers, give them a chance to adjust gradually or provide a calming space away from the crowd.
4. Decorations: Be mindful of where you place holiday décor (e.g., fragile ornaments or plants) to avoid any accidents.
5. Treats & Toys: Keep them occupied with special holiday treats or a new toy to keep their minds engaged!

Let’s make this holiday season stress-free and full of joy for our beloved companions. 💖🎄🐶🐱

🎄✨ Holiday Plants & Your Pets: What’s Safe & What’s Not? ✨🎄

The holidays are here, and many of us love to decorate with beautiful plants—but if you have furry friends at home, it’s important to choose wisely! Here’s a quick guide to help keep your pets safe while still adding that festive touch! 🐾💚

🔴 Toxic Plants to Avoid:
1. Poinsettias – Bright and festive, but can cause vomiting and drooling if ingested. 🌺❌
2. Holly – Both berries and leaves are toxic, leading to digestive issues. 🌿❌
3. Mistletoe – A holiday classic that can cause serious toxicity. 🥴❌
4. Amaryllis – Gorgeous blooms, but harmful if eaten, causing upset stomachs. 🌸❌
5. Lilies – Extremely toxic to cats and can cause kidney failure. 🌼❌

✅ Pet-Safe Plants to Enjoy:
1. Spider Plant – A non-toxic favorite that’s safe for both cats and dogs! 🌱💚
2. Christmas Cactus – Beautiful and festive, and safe for pets too! 🎄🐾
3. Bamboo Palm – Adds tropical vibes while being pet-friendly! 🌿🌴
4. Areca Palm – Safe, beautiful, and great for holiday decor! 🌿💚
5. Boston Fern – Lush and non-toxic, perfect for your holiday setup! 🌿🌟

🌟 Pro Tip: Always supervise pets around plants, and place them in areas they can’t easily reach! Your furry friends deserve a safe, happy holiday season too. 🐶🐱✨

🎄🐾 Holiday Treats for Your Pup: What’s Safe and What’s Not? 🐾🎄

The holidays are a time for family, fun, and—of course—food! But before you share your festive meals with your furry friends, it’s important to know which foods are safe for them to enjoy. At Alta Loma Animal Hospital, we want to make sure your dog stays healthy and happy during the season of giving!

✔️ Safe Holiday Treats:

Plain turkey (no skin, bones, or seasoning)
Carrots and sweet potatoes (cooked, no butter or spices)
Apples (no seeds or core)
Peanut butter (in moderation, unsweetened and xylitol-free)
❌ Avoid These Foods:

Chocolate (toxic to dogs)
Onions, garlic, and chives (can cause serious health issues)
Gravy and rich sauces (too fatty and can upset their stomach)
Grapes and raisins (even small amounts can be harmful)
Remember, while it’s tempting to spoil your dog, it’s important to stick to their regular diet and safe holiday treats! If you’re ever unsure, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at Alta Loma Animal Hospital (909)-987-6224

Wishing you and your pups a safe and joyful holiday season! 🐕❤️

🌟 November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month! 🐾💖

Senior pets are some of the most loving and least likely to be adopted from shelters. Let’s change that! Imagine how wonderful it would be for a senior dog or cat to spend the holidays in a warm, loving home instead of a cold cement cage. ❤️

Here’s why adopting a senior pet is a win-win:
🐶 Instant Companionship – Many senior pets are already house-trained and have basic manners, making the transition to your home easy.
🐱 Calm and Low-Maintenance – Senior pets are often more relaxed and require less training, making them perfect for families or individuals with busy schedules.
💞 Unmatched Gratitude – These pets know they’re being rescued and show endless love and appreciation.
🎄 Holiday Joy – Bring home a senior pet and give them the gift of a cozy bed, holiday treats, and the warmth of family.

✨ Bonus: Many shelters and rescues offer discounted or even waived adoption fees for senior pets this month! Take this opportunity to save a life and gain a lifelong friend.

As Cesar Millan says, “Blessed is the person who has earned the love of an old dog.” And remember: “We may not have them our whole life, but they make our lives whole.”

🏠 Let’s make this holiday season unforgettable—for you and a deserving senior pet. Visit your local shelter today and meet your new best friend! ❤️🐾

🍂🐾 Thanksgiving Pet Safety Tips! 🦃✨

As you gather around the table this Thanksgiving, don’t forget about your furry friends! Keep them safe and happy with these tips:

1️⃣ No Table Scraps: Foods like turkey bones, stuffing, garlic, onions, and chocolate can be harmful to pets. Stick to their regular meals or pet-friendly treats.
2️⃣ Secure Trash Bins: Curious noses love leftovers! Keep garbage out of reach to prevent accidental ingestion.
3️⃣ Keep Calm: If guests are coming over, create a quiet space for your pet to retreat to if they feel overwhelmed.
4️⃣ Avoid Open Flames: Candles and fireplaces add ambiance, but curious tails or whiskers could lead to accidents.
5️⃣ Watch the Door: With frequent comings and goings, ensure your pet doesn’t sneak out. Use a leash or baby gate if needed.
6️⃣ Know Emergency Contacts: Have the number for your vet and a 24/7 emergency clinic handy just in case.

Let’s make it a safe and cozy holiday for every family member—human and animal alike! 🐶🐱
