A LETTER FROM DR. KEITH BERKELEY:

Dear Valued Clients:

Thank you for your many years of trusted friendship and support. It has been a privilege to be your vet and friend for the past 39 years. Thank you for many years of providing Valley Equine the opportunity to provide for your animals. Our relationships have been my lifelong dream. Due to health issues and some limited mobility, I am retiring from equine veterinary practice. My current health is good and I'm doing well now, but it's time to do something a little different.

As you may know, Valley Equine is being sold to Dr. Benjamin Dubois and he will be practicing as Finish Line Equine Surgery, PLLC at the same physical location and with the same phone number as Valley Equine.

Valley Equine closed its billing as of September 27, 2023 and statements were mailed today. For billing questions or to make a payment please call our new billing line at 681-261-3607 or email us at [email protected]. You may also pay via PayPal on our website of www.valleyequine.net.

Any veterinary service performed by Dr. Dubois from September 28, 2023, forward will be billed by Finish Line Equine. Clients continuing services with Finish Line Equine will need to set up payment arrangements directly with their office.

Again, let me thank you for your understanding, friendship, and trust in treating your animals. Best of luck in all your future endeavors.

As we work through some staffing issues, we are temporarily changing our office hours to be Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

During the hours of 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, our lobby will be closed, but we will have a staff person available for any items that need to be picked up or dropped off. Call the office at 304-725-1471 for those needs.

From 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm our lobby will be open.

Access to our parking lot will only be via Racetrack Street off of 5th Avenue. The road that passes the main racetrack barn entrance, Finish Line Avenue, will be closed until April 13th.

Road Closure on Finish Line Avenue

March 13, 2023 through April 13, 2023

The W.V. Dept. Of Highways has issued road closure permits for the installation of 3 underground connections across Finish Line Ave. into the stable area. In order to expedite this work, the section of road shown in red on the attached map will be closed starting at 6 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2023. It is anticipated the road will reopen at 4 p.m. on Wednesday April 12, 2023. If the work is completed earlier than April 12th, the road will reopen earlier.

The entrance/exit to Finish Line Avenue from Flowing Springs Road will be closed during this time.
The detour route for vehicles intending to enter the stable area is 5th Avenue onto Racetrack Road.

Refer to the photo for detour routes around Finish Line Ave that will maintain the flow of traffic around the property.

REMINDER OF TODAY'S CHANGE TO OUR AFTER-HOURS ON-CALL SERVICES:

Effective Monday, January 16, 2023, we are suspending our after-hours emergency services. Please see the attached letter that was mailed out at the beginning of January. We are saddened to make this change and hoping it will be temporary. We have always wanted to be there in your hardest times and we will continue to do our very best to handle your equine emergencies during office hours. Thank you for your continued understanding as we navigate through these difficult times.

An update on Dr. Berkeley from daughter, Nell Berkeley:

We just wanted to give everyone a brief update on dad and say thank you so much for the constant prayers and love. Dad remains in the hospital for the time being and his left leg continues to be non-weight bearing. Your Dr. Berkeley hasn’t lost his sense of humor or positive attitude and has been in good spirits through it all. At this time, our family is blessed to share that all our immediate needs are being met. A special “thank you”to those who are feeding our livestock and helping on the farm. Another gentle reminder that any veterinary related inquiries can be directed to Valley Equine Associates. Thank you all for everything you’ve done to love on my family. ❤️

To our clients and friends from Dr. Keith Berkeley's daughter, Nell Berkeley, on behalf of their family:

On Thursday, December 1, my dad, your Dr. Berkeley, was admitted to the hospital and subsequently had emergency surgery due to a blood clot in his calf. Dad is currently recovering from this operation and will remain in the hospital for the next several days. The healing process for this procedure is long and intensive. At this time, Dad does not have his cell phone or iPad for communication. All veterinary-related inquiries may be directed to Valley Equine Associates, and any cards or well wishes may also be delivered to VEA. Updates on Dad's medical recovery will be posted periodically on this page. My family would like to extend a warm thank you to everyone who has stepped along side us and provided support as we enter this unexpected season of life. We are overwhelmed by your love and thoughtfulness during this time.
