Rock Ridge Landing

Today is a sad day at Rock Ridge Landing. Last night Cricket delivered a stillborn filly. She was a beautifully colored loud bay appaloosa. Upon inspection we discovered that Cricket had been carrying twins and one had developed to full term while the other had died much earlier in it's gestation period. While we are sad, we are extremely grateful that Cricket, while having bouts of colic almost every month since the end of October, seems to be doing very well now and is bright eyed, eating, drinking, and moving around well. This could have been even more devastating had we lost Cricket.

Cricket is now 322 days gestation. Bred to our appoloosa stallion Lugh. Today we have wax! Any guesses on how long before we have a baby????

All 3 girls are over 300 days. 2 have made it to 320. Which one do we think is going to foal first. Cricket or Dimple.

It was a great day for a Working Equitation Gathering. It was great to see old faces and New ones. Next one is March 22nd. Mark your calendars and let us know if you want to ride and people are more than welcome to come watch.

The course is all set up for the Working Equitation Gathering tomorrow! We have a taco bar in the making for the pot luck, the heater is on in the tack room and the propane is full for the patio heater by the bar. Its gonna be a bit chilly in the morning but hopefully it will warm up quickly and be a fantastic day!

Don’t forget to let us know if you’re coming on Sunday! We look forward to seeing everybody who is willing to brave the January cold to come practice Working Equitation!!! Just letting everybody know that we will be providing a TACO BAR for the pot luck. Be sure to bring other hot dishes or veggies or sweets to share!! We are so happy to be doing the Gatherings again and we are looking forward to hosting the community that is the Black Hills Working Equitation club!

We are excited to give an overview of the events and clinics we will be hosting in the first half of the year! I have been riding and competing in AZ for the past three weeks and am a little behind on these fliers. I will be posting the fliers for the individual clinics and events in the coming days but we wanted to get the dates out there!

We are SO excited to bring back the WE Gatherings! We are going to change up the format just a bit...

High Plains Farrier Association Hammer-in and meeting. The focus will be horseshoe pad build wet lab. All farriers are welcome! Free to members or students.

WORKING EQUITATION CLINIC!
Darrell Roberds 2.5 day clinic March 28, 29 & 30
Friday: BYOB, cheese and cracker social with demo and discussion on young horse training and exposure to WE
Sat/Sun: 2 morning sessions of clinic - max 8 participants. Private lessons in the afternoons for up to 4 people.

We have already had lots of word of mouth interest but if you want to get into any of these clinic be sure to get ahold of us right away! We have been so blessed by every clinician and participant who have shared in our events - the Rapid City equestrian community is a GREAT ONE! Every person who comes to Rock Ridge Landing makes it a better place!
