I’m excited to announce that DIY Mule Tape Tack is officially available on Amazon (paperback) and Etsy (digital.)

DIY Mule Tape Tack is your all inclusive guide to making mule tape tack. It’s suitable for beginners and advanced braiders alike.

My book takes you through three major stages-

1. What you need to get started, where to get it, and all of the prep. This includes where to buy mule tape, how to dye it, how to find the right hardware and more.

2. What you need to master to make quality tack. This stage walks you through every single braid, knot and technique you will use throughout your mule tape braiding journey. With over ten different braids and knots and equally as many techniques to master, you will be prepared to tackle the simplest tutorials all the way up to the most complex styles.

3. The tutorial section contains over 20 individual tutorials filled to the brim with photos and detailed written instructions. Being a visual learner myself, I know how frustrating it can be to try and decipher written instructions alone. I kept that in mind throughout this book.

Hey everyone! We are still on track to publish this month. If everything goes to plan, DIY Mule Tape Tack will be available to purchase and ship (via Amazon and Etsy) on Black Friday!

I really want to make this book accessible to everyone so I had an idea- if you have a local library that you think would shelve it, send me their contact info (name and address) to my email- diamond tack co @ gmail (without the spaces) and I will reach out to send them a copy. From my understanding, libraries won’t necessarily shelve a donated book because of their space restrictions, so I need to make sure there is interest in it first.

So what’s in the book? In short, a lot. In long-
Halters: six strand, eight strand, no nose, lariat nose, livestock, and two types of lead ropes.
Reins: flat and knotted (I thought about adding split but they’re done in the same way as lead ropes so it felt redundant.)
Head stalls: two basic adjustable head stalls, one ear and brow band attachments, side pull, chin strap
Breast collar (and how to add fringe)
Wither strap
Bucket holder
Quirt
Tons of braids, knots, different techniques, and lots of general info too.

I’m very much a visual learner so everything is well documented with photos and as soon as the snow starts flying here (and I have a reason to stay inside) I’ll be starting back up with the supporting videos on this channel.

Hey everyone! I’m taking another little hiatus for a few weeks. I’m working through my first full herd breeding season and I don’t think I will be able to consistently post tutorials here or on the other socials. I promise I’ll be back asap with a ton more tutorials but in the meantime- if you have any requests for specific tutorials now would be the time to throw them at me. I know a couple people have mentioned fringe for their breast collars and flat nose livestock halters. I also have a whole bunch of tie down related videos I’m working on- those will probably be the first out when I get back but if there’s anything else you guys would like to see let me know!

Holy cow. Trying my hand at leather tooling has given me a whole new respect for leather workers. I’m sure you can tell there are places that need work but I’m super excited to work towards further improving this skill! (For now I might stick to painted leather lol)

Hey everyone, I hope your new years is going well!
I know this isn’t talked about very often by business accounts but when it comes to making content for multiple platforms, it can really wear a person out if you’re not careful. That being said, I think this is a great time to share the 2023 goals I have in place for DTC!
This year (or until completion) I’m going to focus on our tutorials and kits. I’ve got a great line up for YouTube tutorials every week on Wednesdays. I’m incorporating a few more braids into the mix as well so everyone can see how mule tape looks and acts in different braids.
On top of that, I have a HUGE line up for digital and physical tack DIY books that is going to take up a major chunk of my time. I can’t say too much yet but some will be independent like the two halter guides I have out now, and some won’t 🤫 (I’ll post more when I can.)
With that said, I am going to pull the customs option off of my site until I get these tutorials out. I’ll still have some ready to ship and on sale tack listed, and tack kits will also go out as normal.
Aside from that, don’t worry if the socials aren’t super active. Most of what I’ll be working on is behind the scenes but don’t be afraid to ask questions or make requests. I can’t guarantee I’ll get to it right away, but I’ll do my best.

Todays pattern is for an 8 strand flat braid. This braid is most commonly used in the nose band of a halter! By splitting your two colors evenly (4x4) you get a beautiful mix of triangles on the edges with a semi checkered center.
