** Update- we have received a $400 donations for our dog pens to have the horse panels down. We love to be able to reach $850 if possible. Thank you***
๐ ๐โโ๏ธ
So as you all know today we had Teddy Bear escape and ran off. Unfortunately last week we had one of our dogs realize the ground was so soft due to the rain ๐ง and she started to dig out. That would be Izzy. The one in this picture. Now she has taught 4 of our other rescue dogs to dig out.
Please understand we run 100 percent on donations and volunteers. We do what ever we can to fund our self. Our rescue is in desperate need of improvements. We just did a on line fund raiser for the awings that will cost $3,000 but only could raise around $1,500. Tomorrow I will be buying $1,500 in materials for the awings and hope soon can afford to but the tin.
The rescue dogs big pens, unfortunately I do not have the horse panel wire down around the edges yet. I, cut the horse panel in half long ways and put it along the fence line, then I cover it with dirt so the dogs don't dig out. I have 3 huge outside pens I need to secure for the dogs.
The 2nd picture is the horse panel, we use and when I did the dog kennel pens that are attached to the rescue building.
The 3rd picture is the paneling at Bomgaars.
Please help us secure the pens for the dogs to be able to go back out to enjoy them self. I have to put one of our dogs in boarding right now because I have no room in the rescue building or have another secure pen.
I had to cancel a job today to get this started. But because we are low on funds we need your help to buy as many as we can. I love to buy 10 panels if possible. This panels are so expensive. They cost $84.99 each at Bomgaars. They are 12 feet lby 5 feet.
We do not use anything else because we have tried. Plus the dogs had dug it up. This is so strong they have never been able to get through it or pull it up.
To make Donation to to help keep our dogs save at the rescue:
*******Update thank you Taylor so much for finding him 6 miles away. Teddy is back at the rescue and is in lock up where he can not dig out. Thank you everyone so much*********

๐ ๐ Please pray for Daisy. She is currently at the vet having her cherry eyes removed.she is a sweetheart. Daisey is a boxer mix and we are in need of a foster home for her to recover in.
If you like to foster Daisy, we do require a large fence in yard. Because she is high energy and loves to run and play. She is good with male dogs but not so much with the female dogs. We also do require your home to have air conditioning.Because even though she is short hair she does gets hot pretty quick and likes to stay nice and cool.
We are in need of donations to help us.Cover her $300 to $400 surgery. Please feel free to donate any amount you can to help us with Daisy's vet bill.
***Update- We have Raised $1,570 out of the $2978.53. Thank you so much please donate if you can. The rescue dogs thank you and so do I. ****
Well here is the truth. We have had so many horrible storms already and I have been saying that this year is going to the worse.
I, would like everyone's help and prayers. Our rescue is in dire need of improvements to keep the animals save and to make it easier on me, Michelle Hoppe Brock to clean and care for them.
I, have informed the boardmembers last month, that if we can not get the improvements done at the rescue I will not be able to do another year of this. I, am the main person caring and cleaning the rescue and with working so much to save the rescue, I would love to be able to care for the animals with out issues and save so much more time if it was all finished.
๐จ The main improvement I would love to see happen first is getting the rest of the awings up on the one side, then the other 2 sides. We can not afford a contractor to do this at all. So I am willing to build and finish the awings myself. If anyone would like to help me this Saturday I would so appreciate it.
When it rains or snows, the pens get so muddy, along with the dogs and theinside. Plus to clean the pens is a nightmare. If the pens are covered, the dogs will be cleaner, and able to enjoy going out even in bad weather. Plus I will not slip and fall into the mud and p**p. ๐ฉ
๐ฐI am at Mernards today in hopes of a pray ๐ to be answered if possible. This is an estimate for getting all 4 pens finished. If we could raise half of this now, that would be a true blessing for us and the animals.
The amount is $2978.53
Now before anyone says anything about the 2x4 joist hangers we are getting 2x6 but the salesman said that it comes up as 2x4.
๐ I want the dogs protected and that's why I am putting down the OSB board then the felt and Tin on top. The hail is so loud without the OSB board and can bust through if big enough. This also will be much quieter for them.
๐ธ Please donate if you can any amount is appreciated. I am here today in hopes to be able to buy half this would be great.
The dog in the first picture is Reo and is a year old terrier mix. He is 60 pounds and loves to go for rides, walks and play with his mom. He is up for adoption. Please message us to meet him.
The second picture is how muddy it gets when it rains. Then the third picture is when it snows. Then the 4th picture is the estimate.
Our kennel size is 29 foot long by 30 feet wide. Each pens is 8 foot by 24 then the walkway is 5 feet.
If anyone would like to help me on Saturday morning please call or text me at 605 515 3364
Thank you

***Update- we have 3 sponsored out of the 10 we would love to try to get. Thank you****
Hello Supportters. Today is the last day for this sale at Bomgaars. Our rescue is in need of 10 of these if possible. They are usually $49.99. This is also great deal at $34.99.
If anyone could help us buy several of these it would be great.
๐ Good morning everyone. I, Michelle Hoppe Brock want to apologize to everyone that has called or texted me on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. My phone screen broke again and went all black. Those that ๐ called or texted me on Friday, usually I call or text back by the next day, but could not due to my phone being broken on Saturday.
I also want to explain to you all why I can not answer my phone all the time, specially during the day and evening times. I work a full time job at Black Hills Special Services caring for mentally challenged adults in a group home. I work there as the over night person. I work 10 pm to 6am 5 days a week.
After that job, I go home to get a few hours sleep. Then, I care for the rescue animals,
then I work as a hired hand doing yard work to help save the rescue. ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
This includes rototilling, cutting grass, edging, fencing, trimming and anything they may need me to be a hires hand with.
While I am working as a hired hand, I charge $30 an hour and donating all the funds to the rescue to help save it. Because I am on the clock, I can not answer my phone. Because One call can take as little as 2 minutes of my time, or some calls take up to 15 minutes of my time. So because I receive well over 20 calls a day, this does take up a lot of my time and it's not right to be on the phone while at work. Sorry, but that's how I was raised.
*This is also why we have on our message to call Lori at 605 381 4606.
Then after working as a hired hand I drive back to Hot Springs. While driving back I start my call backs. Then when I get home, I go check on and move the rescue dogs around. Then it's time to eat with my husband and after that I go to bed to get some more sleep before work at BHSSC.
So Please understand why sometimes it takes me a day to get back to you. I work a minimum of 12 to 16 hours a day, even when I am off my full time job, I am working the rescue, and as a hired hand. I never get paid for doing the rescue, we run 100 percent on volunteers and donations. I donate every dollar I make from the hired hand jobs and what I can from my paycheck after my medical and bills are paid.
๐ฐ This year it is costing us $416 a day for us to keep our rescue going. This does not included any improvements that are so needed at the rescue.
๐ง ๐ฉโ๐ง ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ฆ All our boardmembers pay into the rescue and volunteer there time. We really would love to have more monthly donors to help support our cause but understand times are getting tough. Not sure how I am going to cover all the cost for the winter, because I will not be able to cut grass and do rototilling. So I am thinking of cutting ๐ฅ firewood up and selling it to help us keep it going.
Now, I am working on getting a LLC for a Landscaping business to help support the rescue. The name of the business will be
" Landscaping for Paws " ๐พ
Once we get the LLC and insurance we will post it.
All the proceeds will go to the rescue.
So once again to everyone that ๐ called or texted please call or text me again, so I can help you if you have not already been helped.

STARS is about responsible pet parenting. We want to assist pet owners to be able to afford basic care for their dog or cat. We provide inexpensive services to assist with pet owners who have big hearts but not so much big pockets. Also, we are raising funds to get a facility to rescue. Our focus will be in Custer County, but we are able to assist anyone in and around the Black Hills.
Stars provide a Low Cost Micro-Chip Your pet for only $25 to help keep pets out of the shelters and to help keep them reunited back to their family.
Stars provides a volunteer service for Animals Search and Rescue.
Stars is working on the over population of Feral Cats with a Mobile Spay and Neuter Clinic.
Stars is also working on having a great Educational Program to help educate people on animal welfare and behavior issues. This is to help people understand and learn more about their pets to help them work with their animal and to keep them in the home instead of them being re-homed or put into the shelters for misbehavior issues. We also like to educate people about puppy training and to teach them about Parvo Virus to help save animals.
Stars rescues the homeless and abused animals. We provide all medical care and have them spayed and neutered. Once the animal has meet all the medical requirements Stars finds them a new Fur-Ever home.
Stars is currently working on a Mobile Low Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic to help the Low Income Families and to help the feral cat population down. With the Vet being at the Spay and Neuter Clinic we will be able to provide low cost vaccines and Rabies for Low Income Families.
