This is Edie, a horse lover recently turned first-time horse owner. Her life has been full and dedicated to caring for others in her career of education, raising three daughters, and being a full-time Grammy to three grands.

Now it's Edie's turn to receive the care and faithful friendship of a horse of her own! Special thank you to our ASPCA Right Horse adoption partner, West Virginia Horse Network, Inc., for helping to match Edie to her new career as horse mom. 💕🐴

It is with great enthusiasm that we celebrate our team of volunteers' commitment and contributions during this National Volunteer Week. Last year, our volunteers logged a total of 8,536 hours which is an estimated wage value of *drum roll please* $285,854!

🎥❤️ Our TV star is ready to take her fame on the road and shine with her new family!

Snitch is a familiar face around Happy Trails. Our staff knows this sweet mare like the back of their hands. She’s always been the friendly greeter of the barn, the first to say hello each morning, and an absolute joy to be around.

Quiet and respectful on the ground, Snitch is handled daily by people of all experience levels, and she never fails to impress with her gentle, polite nature.

At just 8 years old, this lovely girl has her whole life ahead of her. While she’s been ridden in the past, we haven’t saddled her up here yet as she’s still gaining weight and recovering from her sarcoid removal... but we see no reason she won’t thrive in an athletic career once she’s fully back on her hooves.

Pam's years of caring for her personal horses and all her experience gained have benefited so many horses in our care! Their weekly grooming sessions, preceded by a full morning of farm chores, hold such healing moments.

"I came to Happy Trails a little over two years ago at a very tumultuous point in my life. I was looking for an escape route, and the outdoors and horses have always been my refuge. Five months prior to this, I had put my last horse down and felt totally lost without him. Enter Happy Trails!

Being a volunteer and part of the Curry Crew team has given me that much needed horse time to feel whole again. Coming in for my shift is always the highlight of my week! I love walking into the horse barn to see the new and familiar faces and having conversations with them. I have met the most wonderful like-minded people and have made great friends! Happy Trails is not only a sanctuary for animals, but for people too. ♥️"

Meet Braveheart! A total gem who's been an absolute joy to have in our rescue. Now, he's ready to bring that same joy to someone's barn and life. Don’t let his age fool you! This senior sweetheart is full of life and has no plans of slowing down anytime soon. In fact, a little movement and exercise are just what he loves!

Braveheart is a blast to ride. He spent quite a while hanging out at his last home, so while he might need a quick refresher, it is nothing an intermediate beginner couldn’t handle. He's sound, happy, and not on any meds or maintenance; He's just looking for a soft landing and someone to love.

This is too great to keep to ourselves! from 2015 baby Charlie to 2025 fully grown and as marvelous as ever. This dear fellow recently found his adoptive home, and we just love that our boy is living the life of luxury. 💖

We are just $53.78 shy of reaching TOTAL funding for the dump truck repairs! Can you help meet our goal?

You know it's pretty bad when you need a bigger truck to haul away your biggest vehicle for repairs. 😟

Our dump truck is essential to our everyday work. It hauls away our manure so we can continue to keep the animals' barns clean and tidy! Without it, well, that piles up real quick.

With the towing fee, repairs to the passenger-side axle shaft, and the damaged differential, we are at a cost of $5,000... and that is with the $500 discount from the very kind repair shop!

Do you like a little extra spice with your everything nice? Sheldon is your guy! He is super curious, intelligent, and just downright handsome. He is also a free thinker and forms his own opinions. Read: This isn't the guy who likes to be held and doted on, but he would add beauty, protection, and tons of silly moments to your flock.

We love our roos with a little extra personality, and Sheldon is very ready to meet the person who understands his want for independence. 💛🐓

We serve our community by creating a soft landing spot for animals in transition through our Owner Relinquish, Amish Horse Retirement, and Solutions to Avoid Intake Programs. We must face the fact that animals still fall through the cracks into criminal cases of abuse, neglect, and abandonment. We will always be here to assist in these situations with life-saving care.

Since the start of 2025, we have worked alongside Humane World for Animals, Friendship Animal Protective League, Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, and Lake Humane Society, bringing in many different species in critical care and triaging their medical needs.

We rely on our recurring donations to support the cost of nutritious feed, clean bedding, Veterinary and farrier care. Will you consider a $5 monthly donation or greater to provide for them?

Calling alllll of our horse people!!! 🗣🗣

Gaucho is looking for an experienced home to bring this guy through the levels. He is GORGEOUS and sweet. He really tries his hardest, but as he's been with us, we can see there are a couple holes in his basic training. This boy has been through various different homes in his short life and it's taken a toll on him.

Gaucho does ride, as we've been told. If you're looking for a kids horse, this is NOT your guy, and that's okay! He is amazing in his own ways. He does buck randomly under saddle. We're hoping that his right person will come along before we send him off to a trainer. We think that someone building a bond and taking the time to re-explain things to him, he will come out as a new horse on the other side!
