Just when we thought the number of cats in the shelter might reach a more manageable level, yesterday TWENTY-FOUR cats needed our immediate help. Living in a small trailer piled with trash, the conditions were unlivable.
Almost all of the cats / kittens have upper respiratory infections, eye infections, fleas, ear mites, rotten teeth, injuries and other ailments that have gone untreated. Some will need their eyes removed if they don't respond to treatment. Many will need dental cleanings and extractions. All of the cats are receiving care for the above listed issues.
These poor cats don't deserve to be in this condition, but we are hopeful that they will soon be healthy and happy cats. Despite their ordeal, they are friendly and seem glad to be in a clean space with caring people.
The owner of the cats was elderly and has been hospitalized due to poor health.

Gizmo is a super sweet but very active boy who has been bounced around in his short 1 1/2 years. He had potential in any home but may need a home without cats as he is very interested in them. Come meet Gizmo today when we open at 11!

Talk about a GLOW UP! Sweet Gypsy was brought into us in late August in pretty rough shape. She was soaking wet and filthy with a pretty severe upper respiratory infection, calicivirus and a nasty eye infection. After antibiotics and vaccines and time to heal and recover, Gypsy is on the adoption floor and ready for her furever home. Gypsy is approximately 5 years young, extremely sweet and very goofy. Meet Ireland!

Ireland was part of the same TNR initiative Orlando came from (his story posted a couple weeks ago). She went into foster care immediately and just came back this weekend.
She’s very shy and likes the comfort of a hidey place. If you visit her, you may not see her. She has a carrier she likes to lounge in. She enjoys being petted and loves Churus! She has potential with cats and prefers a quiet home with a family willing to give her the time to adjust. She lived with Orlando and could go home with him if you are looking for 2! As the cold air encroaches upon us, animals become vulnerable to the elements. We need to look out for our pets AND those homeless pets that may wander our way.
If you know of a homeless or outdoor cat, we still have some cat shelters available to the public...free of charge!
If you know of a stray or homeless dog OR you are concerned about an outside, owned dog AFTER HOURS, please contact your local authorities. Humane Agents are not always available to receive or respond to calls.

Looking for something to do this weekend? Reach for a box of crayons! Our crayon cats to be specific...these cats are all a part of a large hoarding group that we took into the shelter in late November. None of these cats were spayed or neutered. They all needed vaccinated and were flea infested, had ear mites. Their fur was stained with urine and f***s, and many had upper respiratory infections.

They have all been vetted, spayed or neutered and vaccinated and are now ready for the better lives they so deserve. If you have questions or would like more information on any of our cats, please contact Roxanne at 330-296-4022 ext 107.

UPDATE: Cheeto and Chunk have been adopted!

Chunk and Cheeto (males) were returned from foster today. They will be available for adoption tomorrow at 11 am when we open.
Good for any home.
