These are plastic ovals that come from the molding process of plastic jug handles. Sometimes these shapes remain intact in the space for the handle, escape the plastic factory, and make it to the store, where they fall out of the jug handle. I find and rescue them off the floor or milk jug shelf. These little buggers are great as a multi-use tool, in fact I might start calling them "super oval" because they do everything! Pry up edges of things when your fingernail is not long enough. Small glue applicator. Burnish rough edges of paper and crafty things. Spackle applicator that will not leave a metal mark on your white wall like a metal palette knife can. Scaper of assorted gunk on assorted surfaces. Small artsy paint mixer/ applicator. Cut flexible end at a sharp angle to get glue or filler in a small corner (example: I build and glue picture frames). Ridged enough to be sturdy, yet flexible. Does not seem to age and deteriorate like I've seen happen with large spatulas and frosting applicators. They clean off easily.
Start rescuing and using these, everybody!
If you see a store employee stocking jugs, they probably see these; encourage them to NOT throw away, but use! Maybe set up a clear box of them in the store for the taking, with a sign explaing Super Oval's many uses. If you use these too, post it here and let the world know how you repurpose them.
