Training Routine
FAQ: "What does my dog's typical day look like at your facility?"
Answer: We only train dogs and take a very limited number at a time so we are able to give every dog the time they need.
We kick the day off around 7:30am by letting our board and train dogs out and feeding them. Around 8am the day training dogs start to arrive. From 8-10am we let the dogs have recess. For some of the newer dogs we have one on one playtime in the morning, as opposed to group play. When 10am hits, we start getting the training dogs out one at a time and work on the commands or behavior modification that needs addressed. After each dog's training session, they are given rest time. This is very helpful in the learning process because it gives the dogs time to digest what they have just learned. Around Noon we have training games for an hour or so. This looks like many different things, some games are food driven and require the dogs to offer behaviors while others use toys like a classic game of fetch. Dogs that are working on off leash skills get to practice while enjoying a romp of the property. This includes swimming in the ponds in the warmer months. After this, I take my lunch break and do a bit of office work. During this time the pups are resting. Then we repeat this process until we start take home lessons at 4pm. The take home lesson are about 30 minutes and we do this until all the pups have checked out, usually finishing around 6pm. From 6-8pm we let our board and train dogs relax and have one on one time with us.
