Dr Leonard managed to make it in to the office, but as soon as the work piled up is done, she's heading home! If you need to reschedule any appointments this week, call us after noon on Tuesday and we'll get you taken care of. Be safe out there! Bundle up, and don't let even your fluffiest of pets stay out long in the cold to come.

There have now been reports of two households where cats being fed raw food (the most recent brand was Monarch) contracted HPAI (highly pathogenic avian influenza). One cat death resulted. IF your cat is on raw food, please check to see if the company pasteurizes or treats the food to kill pathogens. If not, we recommend you consider transitioning your pet to a cooked form of diet (take 10 days at 10% per day) at least until they determine the risk of HPAI has passed.

Hope you have all had a wonderful holiday! Just wanted to let you all know that, as usual, we are needing to increase our fees after the first of the year to cover increased expenses. We will keep a few of our charges the same, but others will be going up. We hate that we can't keep expenses low for everyone, but in order to continue to pay staff, buy supplies, and keep our doors open it is necessary to keep up with inflation. We are considering offering a 3% discount to people who pay with cash or check. If you choose to pay this way, be sure to ask us! This can help alleviate some of our expenses from the credit card processors.

Christmas 2024 Holiday Hours: We will close early (2 p.m.) on Tuesday, December 24 through Christmas Day, but will be open at our usual time on December 26. If necessary, we may start seeing patients earlier than noon on the 24th, depending on demand. We may close slightly early December 31 for New Year's Eve, and will be closed all day January 1, 2025. We also will not have a doctor on Friday, December 27th but can take tech appointments and make sales/refill prescriptions. We will have our winter photo backdrop up at least through January if you'd like to get pet pictures with it!

If you bring your soft plastics to our clinic, we will deliver them for you! Brand says "Catch those plastic bags!"

Raymore Recycling Challenge
We've partnered with the Trex® Company for the NexTrex Recycling Challenge! Starting in October 2024, we're challenging residents to collect 1,000 pounds of soft plastics (plastic bags) within 12 months. The plastic will be diverted from the landfill and recycled. If we reach our goal, we will receive a composite bench made from recycled soft film plastics to place in a public space in Raymore.

Dedicated plastic bag recycling containers are now available at Raymore City Hall, the Raymore Police Station (100 Municipal Circle) and Centerview (227 Municipal Circle).

City Hall regular hours: Mon-Fri, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. City Hall is also open later on meeting nights. Click here to view the City's upcoming meetings.

Centerview is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The Raymore Police Station is open 24/7.

Plastic bags must be dry, clean and free from food and residue in order to be recycled. Acceptable plastics:

plastic grocery bags
produce bags
ice bags
Ziploc and other reclosable food storage bags
cereal box liners (clean)
bread bags
newspaper sleeves
dry cleaning bags
bubble wrap
plastic shipping envelopes
pallet wrap and stretch film
case overwrap (such as on a case of bottled water)

REMINDER: we close early tomorrow, and will not be open again until MONDAY. If you would like to avoid a trip to the emergency clinic over the weekend, or avoid cleaning up loose stools in your house, do NOT feed your pet its own Thanksgiving dinner. Any change more than 10% different from their usual diet has the potential to cause stomach upset including vomiting and diarrhea. There is even a risk of pancreatitis from fatty foods. A couple of bites mixed in of some turkey and veggies is fine. But keep all treats under 10% of total consumption. And skip the gravy, please!

Thanks for all being so patient while we've had staff shortages. These may continue off and on so bear with us. But Sarah is back today!
PSA: chiropractic works best when done BEFORE your pet is painful. We recommend anywhere from twice a year to monthly, depending on the number of adjustments your pet needs, their weight (overweight pets need it more often), their breed (dachshunds...need we say more?), and their activity level.

Abbi came in today with a front leg limp that happened four days ago as she was hurrying to grab a toy on the ground. After a chiropractic exam with adjustment to a first rib and her lower neck, the lameness resolved! See first comment for the after video! Also note the difference in facial expressions.

We are still enrolling senior dogs in the STAY study sponsored by Loyal!!! We would love to double our enrollment, as so far results seem promising and no dogs are having issues with the study medication! The goal of the study is to determine if the study drug INCREASES healthy lifespan in older dogs. Please share this information with anyone you know with dogs over 10 years old, and 14-179 pounds. We just need proof of their age, and even records from a puppy visit with a vet count. Call us at 816-331-1868 for more information, or click below!
