Looking to add a chinchilla to your home? But how do you know you have found the right chinchilla online? Are these cuties being advertised by the owner, or has the photo been copied by a scammer who is looking to appeal to you.
We have seen the scammers move from cute purebred cats to the hottest breed of puppy and now to chinchillas. They steal reputable breeders photos and present the animal as their own and offer it to you. Sometimes they invade someones post with a message that they have chinchillas for sale.
How can you be sure you are dealing with a rebutable breeder? Doing a bit of research can help you get to the truth. Go the that persons site, how long have they had their FB site, 7 years or 2 months. The 7 year FB site is much more likely to be a breeder. Who are their "friends" other chinchilla people? another good indicator they might be a reputable breeder.
Ask lots of questions, but remember scammers lie to every person that contacts them, so they get really good at lying and convincing you they are real. But, you will never see the animal you bought and you will never see your money again.

A reputable breeder will teach you how to care for your chinchilla, they will help you after the sale. They are there to support you and make sure you and the chinchilla are a good fit, because they want theor animals to go to long term loving homes. Scammers just want your money!

Remember the adage, if the "deal" seems too good to be true, it probably isn't real.

We know scammers are out there - they are hijacking our beautiful photos and looking to take your money and give you nothing in return. We do not condone their unethical practices!

Please remember, we are here to help you find your forever chinchilla or chinchillas, and we will support you after the sale.
These particular chinchillas are cuties who are owned by Taylor Miller at VB Chinchillas. Taylor is a reputable breeder and long time member of Empress Chinchilla.
