Please keep your pets safely inside and your entryways secured during the upcoming July 4th Holiday. Fireworks celebrations, both organized and otherwise, frighten pets very easily, causing them to run-off most times. Please don't bring your pets to any fireworks displays and if you're home, please make sure that your doors are closed and locked to help prevent your pet from getting scared and running off during any celebrations. In the past, this day - and the days surrounding it - have been incredibly active on our Page. Every year, these celebrations cause many pets to get scared and run away. Please be mindful of this during the upcoming week. Thank you and have a safe Holiday, Hudson Valley!

Do you know the signs of cannabis (ma*****na) intoxication in cats and dogs?

VCA Animal Hospitals shares that pets experiencing ma*****na intoxication may:

🍃Be hyperactive—or sleepy, disoriented and/or very vocal.
🍃Have dilated pupils and drool excessively or vomit.
🍃Develop urinary incontinence.
🍃Experience tremors, seizures or a coma (in severe cases).

Other physical signs include a slow or fast heart rate, altered blood pressure, and a slowed breathing rate.

If you suspect a cat or dog has been exposed to cannabis, you should take the pet to your veterinarian or nearest emergency veterinary hospital.

Our urgent care service has two full-time doctors, Dr. Elizabeth Wolf and Dr. Emily Geraghty, and a full support staff. Urgent care is available seven days a week from 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM. Patients are seen on a walk-in basis with no appointment necessary. Keep pets away from rising bread dough! While it may not seem tasty to you or me, pets will frequently eat things they should not. Rising bread dough, containing yeast, will continue to rise in your pet’s stomach leading to a possible obstruction. Furthermore, due to the fermentation process in the rising dough ethanol is produced, leading to drunkenness.
