Team work makes the dream work! Go Love, Jerry!

My friend Diane at Acorn Acres contacted me about a lady needing to get out of her leaky living arrangement (serious water leaks) and this nice lady had 2 small dogs needing placement. So of course I call Tracy at Animal Alliance Rescue/Shelter and she says ok (basically she said what are you signing me up for under her breath 🤪), and we worked together to get two dogs ready for rehoming. What was included were vaccines, a neuter and flea treatment provided by Jerry with Animal Alliance previously spaying the female, at their own expense, to prevent another cycle of puppies.

Luckily Diane knew of someone looking for a companion so there ya’ go. In one day we made it happen. Don’t think your money goes into never never land…we are ALL working behind the scenes.

Another Love, Jerry success story and thanks to Diane who contacted me and Tracy who stepped into action.

Pictured is new mom with Maggie with some of the things you guys have DONATED!!! 💕. We were able to supply her with bed, leash, collar, harness and brush due to the items YOU provide. New mom provided the warm lap.

Caitlin Clark like assist by Jerry! Thanks to you we were able to sprint over to Anderson Veterinary in Villisca, drop a dime ($100 towards a client’s pup surgery) and leave some extra for those struggling, yet taking care of their animals. Jerry for the “W”!

Thanks to my alma mater Iowa State University, I had the joy of spreading extra heartworm (and flea) protection to various area rescues and low cost housing this week.

Many thanks to Dr. Jen at ISU and my friend Tarry, for the opportunity to pass on the Love! Miss Tarry arrived in an overfilled SUV! Animal Alliance Rescue/Shelter was also stocked very well and received two bags of toys and miscellaneous.

The even better news is that I’m not done yet!

* pictured is Joyce with Southwest Iowa Humane Society-SWIHS picking up goodies. These will be used for the rescue in Clarinda and low cost housing in their area.

Sometimes it isn’t appropriate to picture those that benefit from your generosity to the Love, Jerry fund but here is a synopsis of today’s uplifting story…

One of our long time clients passed this weekend. He was not mobile and had a van outfitted to help him get around. When he drove up one of us ran out and scooped up his small cuties.

He MADE SURE his two small dogs were going to be taken care of when he died as his health had deteriorated in the past months. When his niece (who took in the two elderly dogs with a small family of her own and already had a dog) called, we pieced together the story of who “the people by the church outside of town” were as described by the uncle/deceased owner. We pulled the grooming cards pretty quickly and determined what we felt “the girls” needed for cuts.

This young family took in a relatives two senior dogs (one blind). Needless to say hugs were exchanged and a few tears were included for free. They expected nothing but wanted to make sure these much loved dogs would continue to be cared for. The new parents did the right thing, the groomers were paid and Corn Dawgs picked up the rest.

Thank you all who contribute to Jerry’s love fund. ❤️ When you are on this side of it sometimes it is super emotional and we keep tissues handy. Love you, Jerry and all of you that help our community.

As we approach the beauty of Fall in SW Iowa, I was thinking of having a $10 entry craft fair here on the front lawn. The entry money would go to the Love, Jerry fund. Would vendors be interested? If so, what date would work? I can do more than one craft fair possibly if my church next door has the parking space to help.

Corn Dawgs Boarding and Grooming will be closed from September 12- September 16. We will reopen on Tuesday, Sept 17.

Deep cleaning and duct cleaning along with some routine maintenance are planned. Plus we need a short break to refresh!

As we approach our 5th year anniversary how does one thank the people that made it possible?

To be honest, I had no business plan but I (actually my mom) saw this former veterinary business for sale when I was home on a visit from Houston and she said let’s go look. Well, the wheels started turning and I loved the location. It’s my happy place!

Major facelift happened not only to the exterior grounds, (thanks to my family ❤️) , but the interior as well. Thank you Paul and my cuz David for carrying out my crazy!

To be surrounded by my family (sorry, I’m back), old friends and the Midwest is absolutely priceless. To all of you that support Corn Dawgs I just can’t thank you enough! You have been so kind. You have not only supported me but also the Love, Jerry fund which has enabled us to aid people and their pets many times over. We are also SO blessed to have the low cost vaccination clinic available and volunteers that make it possible

Bottom line, thank goodness you get the CORNiness!

Southwest Iowa rocks. From the absolute bottom of my heart ❤️ a big squeezing hug from me! Next time you come in- don’t be surprised if you get a squeeze!!

It's a little grainy but Cortney caught us through the screen as Nash navigated the 1/8 mile home drive for a personal drop off after his deshed. Spoiled dog!!

When I finally got back tonight after our vaccination clinic, lunch and time with friends, I threw myself on the couch. Of course there were pets on my lap too and it was an excellent time to say thank you Lord for this blessed day.

Just a huge, huge thank you to Dr. Pat, Alix, Jan, Teri, Erin, Vickie and Debbie, and to Tractor Supply and their friendly staff for accommodating us! Animal Alliance Rescue/Shelter had kitties there for adoption too!

We vaccinated, laughed, took pictures and caught up with everyone and even met some new friends… blessed indeed.

This clinic is so important to me. Thank you all for your drop in donations and time to make the effort a success. Jerry would be so pleased!❤️

Don’t forget! This Saturday morning- $10 vaccinations at Tractor Supply* in Red Oak!

We’ve had a couple of emergency boarders this week. Thank goodness the pups had their vaccines when their parents weren’t able to care for them. Great time to get dogs vaccinated!

*will need to use frontage road due to construction and Ragbrai!
