Finally made it home from Pomona. Had a blast this weekend spending time with my reptile friends and family. I have to say a huge highlight of the weekend and a complete fanboy experience for me was getting to meet and chop it up with Zac and Clint ( and ) from
I can’t say enough good things about the work these guys are doing. Colubrid and Colubroid Radio is absolutely top notch. If you’re not listening regularly, you’re missing out on some of the best science, market, and species/taxa deep dives in our discipline. They’re also doing actual conservation work in a meaningful fashion that’s going to benefit us for years to come.
I also have to apologize to the Kingsnake crowd, I meant to bring King Louie to the show so everyone could see him in person before he gets too old. If I vend the June show I’ll make sure to bring him out. He’s one of a small number of paradox California Kingsnakes that’s ever been recorded.
To my friends, it’s always a pleasure and I’ll see you guys at the next show. (roy you were too busy to hang out with😂 )

A few of the 30ish snakes I put into brumation. Only one hognose pairing for next season, but I’ll have 7-8 Cal King pairings, some MBKs, and perhaps I’ll pair some cornsnakes too.

Some random shots from the last weekend. Had a blast last weekend, the Redding show is my home show and that makes everything about it more fun. Sandra goes out of her way to make it more fun too, with things like Saturday’s VIP night.
This will be my last show until Pomona in January. After that I have no real plans to do any California expos next year. The market needs to recover and a lot of promoters have added too many expos in already saturated areas on the west coast (it’s happening everywhere honestly).
After Pomona I will have some wholesale lots of ball pythons and morph California kingsnakes available.

I have begun the tedious process of listing baby California Kingsnakes on MM. I was only pooped on about a dozen times photographing these 3 🤷‍♂️
Cal kings get a bad reputation but they grow out of this behavior. As for the finger biting food response stuff, the main thing to reduce that is to open the enclosure more often to handle, than you do to feed. 2-3 handling sessions a week to one feeding session will make them a little less crazy. Owning a lny of the larger Lampropeltis sp. means you’re going to get nibbled on at some point. Before I bred them though, all of my kings raised as pets were pretty chill and it was pretty usual to get bitten after the initial food response.

We had a blast as usual at the Puyallup reptile show. Thanks to all of our friends for stopping by and hanging out, and to everyone who bought animals from us. As you can tell by this single illustrious picture of hanging out with Big Boy, I suck at capturing all the fun that goes on at reptile shows 😂

Some crap pictures of some of what’s been going on the last couple weeks. I’ve had 21 California Kingsnakes hatch, 18 Red Spotted Garters born, and absolutely killed it herping. Work on the other hand has been kicking me in the pants for the last two weeks to make up for it 😂😂
Tomorrow we’re headed to Puyallup for you can find me at the table.

I got my CZ 75 SP-01 back from today and it came out amazing! A spicy theme for a spicy rig. I gave Robert creative freedom and he hit an absolute home run with the Beaded Lizard theme. He nailed the pattern and the laser engraved beads are just sick!

Castle Lake in Mt. Shasta

We’ve tried a couple times this summer to visit Castle Crags but the upper lot has been full. This is the next set of mountains to the North. Nowhere near as impressive as the Crags but magnificent nonetheless.
