📣Maggie and Lieutenant Dan have an announcement to make!📣

As of yesterday, we booked our 50th new client appointment! 50 new clients in one week- holy smokes! 😻 With that, we have reached our limit and will no longer be accepting new clients. We appreciate all of our community’s support, and we will let you know when we will be able to accommodate new clients again. Have a wonderful day!

📣 IMPORTANT INFORMATION! PLEASE SHARE!

Happy February to all! We officially started accepting new clients today and the response has been overwhelming- we are truly touched! 💞

We wanted to clarify a few things to help avoid confusion:

✨All new clients will be required to pay a $55 non-refundable deposit in order to schedule an appointment. The $55 will go toward the cost of the initial exam, or covers the cost of our no-show fee if applicable.

✨We will be requesting all previous veterinary records so that we have them in advance of your appointment.

✨We require all new patients to have an exam with a doctor prior to any surgeries.

✨We will only be accepting 50 new clients. Once we reach the 50 mark, we will re-evaluate and see if we can accommodate more. We want to be sure to meet the high demand while not sacrificing quality of care.

✨For first-time appointments, plan to be scheduled at least a couple weeks from when you call. It is exceedingly unlikely that we will be able to accommodate new clients the same day, or even the same week.

✨Once established, we will do our best to see our patients in as timely a manner as possible. However, we do recommend that all of our clients maintain a relationship with another veterinary office that is open on the weekends, or has after-hours emergency care available. If not, be prepared to take your pet to BEVS or another urgent care/emergency hospital in the case of an after-hours emergency.

Thank you all for reading- we hope you have a wonderful evening!

Today marks two years since the passing of our friend, Alexis Bouyea. Out of that tragedy, the Alexis Fund was established. Through this fund, we have helped dozens of pets and their owners who might not otherwise have been able to afford care. In many of these instances, we performed life-saving treatment.

Through generous donations and events organized by her family, the fund continues to thrive. The next event is a co****le tournament on January 25th (see the flyer in the comments for more information).

We know that we are not alone in thinking of and missing Alexis everyday. We hope that through the fund her memory will live on and her dedication to animals will be her legacy 🐾

📣 EXCITING NEWS- PLEASE READ ENTIRE POST AND SHARE!! 📣🐾

We are thrilled to announce that we have another full-time veterinarian joining our team beginning on Monday, February 3rd- Dr. Felice Cuomo! Some of you may have already met her because she has been doing some relief for us for the past few months, and we are thrilled that she has decided to join us full-time!

Dr. Cuomo grew up on Long Island, where she also completed her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from SUNY Stony Brook. She then achieved her DVM from the University of Minnesota and followed this with a yearlong internship at Austin Equine Hospital in Texas. She has had the pleasure of living and practicing in different parts of the country before settling in the beautiful Adirondacks in 2017. Dr. Cuomo enjoys doing anything related to the outdoors as well as spending time with her family and four-legged friends (1 dog, 2 cats, and 3 horses). She enjoys focusing on providing quality preventive/wellness care as well as integrating acupuncture into traditional medicine. She is looking forward to joining the team!

With the addition of a new doctor, there are a few other points to address:

✨ We will begin accepting new clients again starting February 3rd. We have not been able to accommodate new clients for over a year so this is an exciting change!

✨ Our office hours will not be changing, we will just have more appointment slots open during the day. We will not be open after-hours or on weekends. We still recommend maintaining a relationship with a vet office that offers after-hours care, or being prepared to take pets to the emergency hospital in Burlington if it is a weekend or after-hours.

✨ As many of you know, Dr. Kerry Alexander has been helping us for the past 2 years working part-time. Once Dr. Cuomo starts, Dr. Kerry will be stepping back to focus on her large animal business, and will only be filling in with us on a relief basis. We have been SO GRATEFUL to have Dr. Kerry with us, but are excited for her to be able to fully dedicate herself to her large animal practice, which is her passion. 🐎

Thank you all so much for reading, and please join me in welcoming Dr. Cuomo to our team!!

Our Story

The Saranac Veterinary Clinic is a small, two Doctor practice, providing basic large and small animal veterinary care in our one location since 1984. House and farm calls are part of our limited mobile service.

In addition to basic veterinary medicine, we practice holistic animal care, including herbal and homeopathic treatments, acupuncture, laser therapy, ultrasound and radiography.

We do everything possible to keep costs down so that we can provide affordable care to all our clients and patients, enabling them to visit us whenever care is needed, instead of only after getting a tax rebate or winning the lottery. We care and we’ll be here for you when you need us.
