You may have noticed some new faces around the clinic, so we would like to introduce our newest team members! Meet Olivia and Elizabeth!

Hi, I’m Olivia! I was born and raised in Plattsburgh, NY and I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from Cornell University. Saranac Vet is such a wonderfully uplifting place filled with some pretty amazing pets and people alike! I’m so happy I get to be a part of such an amazing team — it feels like we’re family here! One of the best parts of my job is getting to form long-lasting relationships with many pets and their families. When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my two cats (Mewcifer and Meeko), listening to music, and creating new pet gear for my small business (Anxiously Handmade)!

Hello everyone, my name is Elizabeth Nichols and I live in Churubusco, NY. I am the 5th generation of my family to be involved in the dairy industry as well as farming on the same land. I graduated from SUNY Canton in 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology and a minor in veterinary service administration. At home I have a dog named Max, a cat named Lily, chickens, as well as five dairy cows. My cows are named Lola, Lainey, Lakelynn, Lera, and Koco. My biggest hobby is showing my dairy cows at county, state, and national shows. At the Saranac Veterinary Clinic all of the staff members are incredibly welcoming, kind, and patient! I look forward to working more with each one of them! I also look forward to meeting and talking with more clients as well as their pets!

Good morning from one of our favorite parasites, Demodex! Demodex is a type of mite that lives within hair follicles and can sometimes lead to nasty skin conditions. Most of the oral flea and tick preventives also treat Demodex and other mites that cause mange. If you look closely, this little guy is waving hello! Pictures in the comments!

Aaand we’re back with a bang! Our girl Fiona fought a losing battle against the evil vacuum this morning and ended up with a wheel stuck on her jaw 😣 we were happy to be able to help her out! We hope everyone had a lovely holiday ❄️we really enjoyed our time off and we were happy to get back at it yesterday!

The Redford Picnic has always held a special place in my heart. I looked forward to it as a major event as a child, and I was very excited to bring Ferris for his first time this year. My family has been involved in the planning and running of the picnic for generations, and I wanted the clinic to contribute in a unique way. Saranac Veterinary Clinic was honored to sponsor the calliope player, and to support our local community. I think my Papa Liberty would have been proud ❤️🎠

This poor pooch had been sneezing excessively since last night. We sedated him and, voilà! Mystery solved!

The Saranac Veterinary Clinic is a small, two Doctor practice, providing basic large and small animal veterinary care in our one location since 1984. House and farm calls are part of our limited mobile service.

In addition to basic veterinary medicine, we practice holistic animal care, including herbal and homeopathic treatments, acupuncture, laser therapy, ultrasound and radiography.

We do everything possible to keep costs down so that we can provide affordable care to all our clients and patients, enabling them to visit us whenever care is needed, instead of only after getting a tax rebate or winning the lottery. We care and we’ll be here for you when you need us.
