Henry needs our help! Please visit for more information on how you can help and donate ๐ฑ๐๐ป
Meet Henry (pronounced the French way!) This gorgeous guy was found displaced outside, all alone. He obviously did not belong there, and was scooped up by a couple of cat advocates we work with frequently. Henry was vibrant, enthusiastic and loving. We knew that he would get adopted quickly, so we got him scheduled for his neuter promptly.
After his surgery, Henry wasnโt feeling well. He stopped eating and drinking, and was lethargic. He went in for a recheck, and his incision looked good, but he was running a fever. He was sent home with antibiotics, but got progressively worse overnight. He began to struggle to breathe (as seen in the videos).
He saw a vet first thing in the morning, and an x-ray revealed fluid around his lungs. The prognosis was grim without the help of an emergency vet. Our regular emergency vet was at capacity, so Henry was rushed to ORVS, where he remains. It is a possibility that anesthesia may have exacerbated an ongoing condition that we were unaware of.
Gratefully, heart failure, cancer and FIP have been ruled out. This leaves aspiration pneumonia or an abscess near the lungs as the possible diagnosis. Henry is on oxygen, and will be having a drain put in his chest. The estimate for his stay started at $5100, and itโs now looking to be closer to $10k.
We are pleading with you to consider contributing to Henryโs care. Local cat advocates Katie and Tom have taken the financial brunt of this visit, and will be forced to stop helping cats this year if we cannot raise the money.
Cat rescue requires the entire community to play a role. Please help us raise the money to fund Henryโs medical care. Share this post if it speaks to you. Help us show people that Detroit is full of love, and that we work together to right the wrongs.
Together we can give Henry a fighting chance.
