Bennett and Neptune are two lovable boys, both eagerly waiting for the perfect home to call their own!

Bennett might look familiar to you! He was featured in one of our “What Am I Wednesday” giveaways a while back. Unfortunately, his last adoption didn’t work out, but it was no fault of his own. Bennett is a big, goofy, and incredibly intelligent dog who loves people and gets along with other dogs. With his smarts and continued training, he would make a fantastic companion.

Neptune is a friendly, social, and chatty cat who found his way here as a stray. He’s always ready for snuggles and love. He’s been at BrightSide longer than expected, most likely because he’s a black cat. However, anyone who meets Neptune knows that he has a loving nature and would make a great addition to any family.

“Grizzy is a happy girl and easy keeper. She’s extremely loyal and easy to please. Although she needs to be the only animal in the house, she is so obedient and eager to please. She loves walks, road trips, (loves to ride) just chilling around the house and her favorite ball. She doesn’t seem to know she’s a senior girl. She will sit, lay and shake hands. She is extremely loyal and shows it by her obedience. She is not an excessive barker but does let you know if strangers are at the door. As soon as she knows they are friends she happily greets them. Completely housebroken, never had an accident in the house. She can stay alone and does not appear to have any separation anxiety. She is a very loving, affectionate girl.”

Happy Foster Friday! After four months in foster, six out of eight young pups are back at BrightSide ready to find their forever homes. These pups had a difficult start and went through a lengthy court case, but we’re thrilled to see them ready to begin brighter futures! Today, we’d like to highlight two of the siblings, Sunny and Midnight. If you have questions about the other pups, please stop by, give us a call, or visit our website! If you want to meet Sunny and Midnight in person they will be at our adoption event at Local Paws from 2pm-4pm today!

☀️🖤 Sunny and Midnight: Both are truly wonderful dogs. They both love other dogs and love to play. They’re good in the car as well! One of the best things about them is that they match energy and are good playmates with both older, low energy dogs, and high energy pups. They greet other dogs very respectfully and are always passive until they figure out if the other dog wants to play. They are good with kids when we have seen them out and about. They are pretty good at obeying the “sit” command, especially when a treat is involved. They were good in their crates overnight or for a few hours during the day. They haven’t had any bladder problems or accidents in the house since they were about 3.5 months old. They recently learned to swim and are both having lots of fun in the water (especially Sunny)!

At BrightSide, we’re dedicated to providing sheltering, placement, and prevention services to reduce animal homelessness and unnecessary euthanasia. Located in Redmond, Oregon, we’ve been serving Central Oregon for over 30 years, providing essential care to animals in need.

About the Role: The Shelter Veterinarian for BrightSide is the lead shelter medical and surgical staff member. Provides direction to the department to establish best practices in shelter medicine and High Quality, High Volume (HQHV) surgical practices. Working in collaboration with the clinic manager, establishes appropriate veterinary policies for all shelter operations. Adheres to the highest ethical standards and ensures that veterinary care is provided in a safe, competent, professional, and humane manner. Responsible for overseeing all aspects of the shelter medicine program, including herd management and HQHV spay/neuter. This role requires collaboration and teamwork with a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT), a Veterinary Assistant, and Staff at BrightSide. Interacting with kennel staff, fosters, volunteers, and at times, the public is also required.

📣 Happy $2 Tuesday! We’re in the final days of the Empty the Shelters event, and we have some exciting news to share! Both of our longest-term residents, Gidget and Dunkin, for today and tomorrow only, have WAIVED adoption fees thanks to an amazing community member, See Spot Run Mobile , and BISSELL Pet Foundation! 🎉

Gidget, is a truly wonderful and happy dog, who has been with us far too long. His fosters have all reported that he is a very well behaved and low maintenance boy who loves people. They reported that his joyful nature and calm demeanor make him a perfect companion and whoever adopts him will be very lucky!

Dunkin, our longest term feline resident, may have a spicy side at first, but he quickly warms up and shows his sweet, loving side. Dunkin’ has become a favorite amongst our volunteers and staff. He would thrive in a calm home without other cats.

This $2 TUESDAY is dedicated to our black dogs and cats, who are often overlooked at our shelter. Finding homes for wonderful pets like Buddy and Iggy can be more challenging, even though they have so much love to give. Here are two of our all black furry friend's who are looking for homes.

🐾 Meet Buddy! He’s a senior pit mix with an all black coat. Despite the challenges he’s faced because of his color, breed, and age, Buddy remains a loving and easy-going companion. His journey hasn’t been easy, with scars from his tough start in life to prove it. With the dedicated care of our team, Buddy is now thriving. He’s eagerly looking for his forever home, and his adoption fee is currently just $50.

Meet Iggy! We found him at our doorstep, and though his past is a bit of a mystery, we have discovered that he’s a calm and laid-back cat who loves finding a cozy spot to chill out. Iggy might take a little time to warm up to new visitors, but once he does, he’s all about showing his affectionate side. Right now, you can bring home this guy for just $25!

Foster homes needed! We would be incredibly grateful to see these pups in loving foster homes where their personalities can flourish as they wait for their forever homes. If you are interested or able to foster, please fill out our foster form below or give us a call!

🐾 Maevis has been with us since March, and we would love to see her get a break from shelter life. She was found tied to a tree and it was very clear that she had not been the most loved. Despite this, Maevis keeps everyone at the shelter laughing. She is goofy, playful, and the best cuddle potato! Maevis is still learning about life, so she would love a patient foster to help her along the way.

🐾Snickers is a very sweet and easy-going dog. He enjoys running through the sprinklers, going on long walks, and giving hugs. Snickers would make a great addition to any family.

🐾 Piper is one of the last pups still with us from the LaPine neglect case from back in December. We would love to see her experience what a loving home is like. Piper is a sweetheart with a spicy side when it comes to other dogs. She would do best in a home with no other dogs. If you foster Piper you can count on being greeted everyday with a huge smile!

It’s $2 Tuesday, where we feature two adoptable animals here at BrightSide looking for homes! 🌟

Imagine spending years in a home, learning to trust, love, and rely on your family, only to have your world turned upside down when you’re brought to an animal shelter and placed in a completely new environment. This was the reality for Lazareth and Penny.

🐱 Penny was surrendered to us because her family no longer wanted her, and we can’t figure out why. Penny is sweet and talkative, and she has even become our “kitten mama” here at the shelter. She is very friendly with people and has the perfect mellow demeanor.

🐶 Lazareth was surrendered because his previous family no longer had the time for him. He is an extremely sweet dog with a fun and playful side that will keep you laughing. Lazareth has lived with a cat and gets along great with other dogs. He is housebroken and has even mastered sit, stay, and lay down!

Every day, we receive calls from our community needing to surrender their animals. We want to help everyone, but to do so, we need to provide high-quality care to the animals already with us and find them forever homes, which will open up a spot for the next animal in need.

Let’s get these guys into forever homes! Plus, Penny’s adoption fee is currently reduced to $25 and Lazareth is just $50!
