THS's mission is (was) to teach excellent horsemanship skills: the how and why while working safely around these wonderful animals. We turn out knowledgeable beginning to intermediate level riders in both the English and Western styles of riding. Our equine herd consists of a twenty small, medium, large, and extra large size ponies. We can accommodate children from 4 years old to small size adults

(150 lbs.) THS consists of two riding arenas: one outdoor and one all-weather covered and lit indoor arena to provide for comfortable riding year round; two barns: one where students groom and tack up their horses and the other that consists of our office and classroom; a trail course for use during summer months and easy access to trails around The Root Connection farm for our students to hone their outdoor riding skills. There are also multiple viewing areas both indoors and out for family and friends. Weekly hour long lessons are scheduled in sessions of approximately 8
weeks. Classes are made
up of 4 to 6 students of similar ages and experience. Private and semi-private lessons are also available. Once a student is riding with us, they have first priority to continue in an appropriate level class for each succeeding session. If they decide to stop riding, their spot is filled from our waiting list. Camps and tours are offered throughtout the year and are pre-scheduled. Please call or visit the web site for scheduling information.

Morning Mantra: ā€œBlowing out someone elseā€™s candle wonā€™t make yours shine any brighter.ā€

Stealing someoneā€™s thunder, judging, criticizing, manipulating, twisting the truth, all are ways that we dim someone's light. But why?
Fear and fear-based insecurity.

You must not allow your own insecurity to color the way you interpret someone elseā€™s intention or behavior.

Your light wonā€™t dim when you stand next to someone elseā€™s flame, it will just make the whole world shine brighter.

In memory of Minstrel xx

11/18/2022

She used to be a cowgirl before fear and doubt crept in. She used to swing a leg over any old horse in the corral and ride hell bent and fast over the land. She used to be a cowgirl before she was a mother and a wife. She used to be at the barn from sun-up to sundown before she was cooking breakfast, driving carpool and tending to heart matters. She used to be a cowgirl before the world called her to make a dollar. She used to train c**ts, craft leather and make goods to get by just to ride her horse another day instead. She used to be a cowgirl full of grit, faith and fearless before she doubted her ability and the horse she rode. She used say ā€˜what the hellā€™ and give it all she had. She used to be a cowgirl, but now she doesnā€™t just climb on the cold-backed, snorty c**t with a grin. She hesitates and is a little scared now and again. She used to be a cowgirl, but real life has changed her some as responsibilities pull at her heart, breaking it now and again. She wouldnā€™t change being a mother, a wife, or a bread winner for her family; those are great accomplishments. But if you see her starting to let the housework slide now and then, that she says itā€™s cereal for dinner, or she pays a late fee on the power bill, thatā€™s because sheā€™s reprioritizing her heart a little- sheā€™s making room for the things that speak most to her. The barn, the outdoors, the horses, and her cowgirl spirit are calling. Itā€™s her balance; a piece of her sheā€™s not willing to give up. If you find her at the corral instead of the stove, sheā€™s rekindling her heart flames and shoring up her foundation so she can be all she needs to those she loves. Because she used to be a cowgirl, and a damn good one at that.
