Lucy has been such a good mama to all the babies she’s raised! We tried letting one of our other broody hens hatch eggs and she started eating the eggs just before hatch 😱😱😱! Thankfully we could quickly switch her out for Lucy and we were able to hatch this sweet pea and they are doing great!
We will be getting some barnyard mix chicks mid week that we had hatch at the local elementary school! If you’re interested, they’re all at least 1/2 ameraucana (from our rooster) so quite the mix of egg colors and will be $2 each. First chick hatched yesterday, the rest are hatching now. Let me know ASAP to reserve yours!
I have 2 Rhode Island Red hens I’m looking for a home for. One is very friendly and will follow you everywhere, neither are aggressive to people at all! But they are overly aggressive to my weaker chickens and i feel like its making others more aggressive then normal. 1 is laying very regular, not sure about the other. This summer they will be 2. They’d be perfect for a backyard or newbie. They’ve been great foragers. (Video of “red” following us everywhere) . Super easy birds but would not put them with other birds...although they have been accepting of our new youngsters last year who just stayed away from them...they seem to target weaker and/or older birds. We had to put one down that they attacked badly. 😓
He gets so excited about the chickies hatching!! This will be our last one for this summer! 💕🙌🏻💕
Chick playtime. Getting their wiggles out at just over a week. This'll be the last batch we raise this year for others! Thanks so much for a BUSY fun spring of chicks!! (Barred Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, Ameracaunas)
Play time for the girls...they are a very friendly group! I only got pooped on twice...
Chickens on the run...so cute!
The girls are getting BIG and about to be moved out! Busy lil girls!
Forgot to share the barred rock video with all the pics! Here it is so you can see that they are a bit noisy.
