Tabitha is still looking for a home!

*Older Kitty Needs a Home*
Tabitha is a spayed female domestic short hair. She is around 12 years old. She was surrendered by her owners who were moving and unable to take her with them. Tabitha appears to be in good health other than being a little overweight and possibly having some arthritis. She does have a crinkled ear from a previous injury. She loves to be brushed. She would do best in a quiet home with no other cats but she has lived with dogs before. If you or someone you know are interested in giving Tabitha a home for the holidays give us a call 541-460-0828

We have gotten questions from many concerned dog owners about the mysterious canine respiratory disease. Rest assured we are monitoring the situation and will provide updates as we get new information. At this time, there are no reported cases of the illness in Central Oregon. If dog owners are concerned we recommend avoiding high dog traffic areas such as boarding, daycare, and dog parks.

Behavior Monday! Today we are going to discuss some dog body language. Inguinal presentation - when a dog rolls over onto its back.

Inguinal presentation is a sign of submission, deference or an attempt to stop the interaction. Puppies may exhibit this signal to show that they are not a threat to another dog. When this happens, the older dog usually sniffs the puppy and walks away or just walks away. In general, it is best to assume that a dog who offers inguinal presentation doesn’t want to be touched, but instead would like to be left alone. When trying to analyze an animal’s body language, each signal must be taken in context. Some dogs offer this position when they are playing, want to be touched and when they are sleeping.
