Fix It Forward: Spay/Neuter for a Better Tomorrow 🐕🐈✨

The Humane Society of Southwest Missouri is hosting a Spay/Neuter Clinic on November 8 & 9 as part of our ongoing efforts to reduce pet overpopulation and improve the health and well-being of our furry friends. Regardless of the cost of a large event like this, our amazing medical and operations teams understands the dire need for spay/neuter in our area and will be working through the weekend to perform as many surgeries as is safely possible.

Did you know that spaying/neutering can:

🐾 Prevent unwanted litters and reduce pet overpopulation
🐾 Decrease the risk of certain cancers and infections
🐾 Stop undesirable behaviors like spraying/marking territory, aggression, and running away

Spay/Neuter is the single most important aspect of animal welfare to help end pet overpopulation and reduce the homeless pet population. Without intervention, a female cat can produce up to 5 litters per year, and with an average of 4-6 kittens per litter - the math and suffering - adds up quickly. Together, we can create a healthier and more humane world for all animals, one spay/neuter at a time.

I want to introduce our newest member of Tri-Lakes Humane Society. He loves squeaky toys and treats of all kinds. Has the greatest set of ears and beautiful brown eyes! He was shaking this morning with anxiety but by the afternoon we were playing fetch and giving kisses. There is hope for Jasper in this new chapter of his life, he just needs a little love and understanding. I can't wait for you all to meet him! ❤️

Yesterday Alicia Bingham Mason from bransonhumanesociety and I were invited to Silver Dollar City for a luncheon hosted by Table Rock Lake Community Foundation and Community Foundation of the Ozarks (ignore my scrunched up face it was really bright out 😂) We had been awarded grants to help with our spay and neuter programs which is so greatly needed not only for our shelter animals but for the community itself! Snip City has been a huge help in this making it affordable to get our pets spayed and neutered at a cost that more people can actually afford.

I had wonderful time meeting other community members and learning about their programs and how we can work together.

After a very yummy lunch I spent the day with my daughter at the park and after we were exhausted from climbing the mountains of Silver Dollar City 🤣 we went to visit our newborn pups in foster care and bring them some more puppy formula. They are growing quickly and very hungry 🍼

We are so thankful for the foster family who stepped in and offered to wake up in the middle of the night to do that 2:00am feeding! Fosters are absolute gold to a shelter.
