Qwenna:
TUESDAY: BEST OF OP & BOB OH

Invi: ran her butt of at FCAT not our best times but she killed it! Getting BEST OF BREED (yes we are the only one of our breed) which is a Major accomplishment for her!

Altair: went for socializing and a crash course in big show dog life and he was the best boy!

We have been a little Mia lately due to our crazy schedules. But update time for this team!
Altair: he has been killing it at dock diving practice we are hoping to do some competition jumps soon!
He also earned his RATO title last month! He is going to be a great sport dog as he matures.

Invi: she has been playing on the dock but it’s just for fun I don’t think she will be competitive as she lacks toy drive.
We need 1 more run to earn her senior Rat title.
We will be traveling to Tennessee next month where she will earn her FCAT1 title! SOOO EXCITED for that.
Qwenna: she has been conditioning post puppies and preparing for the next couple months of showing! We should be able to earn her GCH Bronze title fingers crossed. We did a show this past weekend for some practice she went select.

For all those contacting me looking for a Family House Pet that will just hang out.... (Borrowed the text from another page) and added some!

" The Cane Corso need an assertive handler, someone who is willing to train, train and train some more. A family or handler who will fill their emotional cup by giving them a purpose, daily tasks or a job such as obedience, agility, tracking, scent detection, barn hunt, dock diving, protection, therapy, herding etc,. The list is endless, and their versatility is outstanding, therefore it’s not hard to find something both handler and dog enjoy.
STOP 🛑 Looking for an easy going, laid back, calm, low energy, chill, docile, dog friendly dog in a Cane Corso. Please consider a breed who fits this description.
TIRED 😴 Of listening to complaints such as, my puppy broke out of its crate while I went to work for 10 hours and don’t have time to train or exercise it. My puppy has high energy and wants to bite everything including flesh. My dog ate my couch. People cross the street when my dog and I walk by and it hurts my feelings. My dogs a friendly giant. My family is scared of my dog because it looks mean. My kids can’t walk our dog or my favorite one... my dog weighs more than me so I can’t walk it. My dog loved dog parks until it turned 15 months and now it’s aggressive. My dog needs a friend.
You aren’t doing the breed or your future pup any Favours by denying the fact that genes and Natural instinct run deeper than vanity.. "😎

STOP getting this breed because you want something that looks SCARY but then when it shows its guardian side (hint it is a guardian breed) you freak out and rehome the dog because of Aggression! GROW UP and get a dog that FITS YOUR LIFESTYLE NOT YOUR EGO!!!

It’s that time of year again to ensure that you are treating your pets in yards for fleas and ticks. Tick disease is not something you want to mess around with, and fleas are just a menace that cause tons of skin irritation so take care of your pets this summer and ensure you have a wonderful itch free time by getting your pets and yards treated.

HYDRATION tip from Woofer Wellness 💦

Hydrating your dog is something so simple but it's actually so overlooked and most people don't think about hydrating when it comes to meal times.

If your dog is eating a kibble diet, they are more than likely in a constant state of dehydration. This is because the dry kibble requires moisture for digestion. When your dog is not adequately hydrated, the body pulls water from the internal organs to digest the kibble and this can lead to the state of dehydration. Even if they are drinking throughout the day, the digestion process pulls water from their system after eating.

One of the best and easiest thing you can do as a kibble feeder is HYDRATE YOUR DOGS FOOD!

Adding water to kibble softens it for digestion and hydrate your dog's body systems.

Great options to hydrate kibble include
💧Filtered Water
💧Coconut Water
💧Bone Broth
💧Goat's Milk
💧Decaffeinated Green Tea (aids in cancer prevention)

Quick Tip - you can freeze all of the above in trays or silicone molds and then pop out a cube or two and melt with hot water at meal time!

We have found great homes for both poodles 🥰

We have 2 AKC standard poodles looking for there forever place. 4 month old females. Very spunky could be great for possibly sports, or competition grooming they are already a dream to groom. They stand perfectly still for bath, blow dry and groom. I don’t know much about poodle structure but they seem to be nice. They are very similar, one is a little larger then the other, crate trained, almost fully potty trained. However they don’t really respond to their current names so that’s kinda a black slate. We do have their AKC paper work.
We are holding them with us and working on basics for the current owner until we can find them the right forever place. Please pm me for further details and info.

TODAY IS THE DAY: it’s temperament testing day! We are so excited to have Hannah coming down to eval these little fluffy monsters and then the best part is after we get to make the calls and let everyone know who they will get to love for ever!!

This little guy got to go get his Health certification yesterday to travel to his new home and he is the most laid back and calmest puppy out of the bunch and just absolutely loves to snuggle. This is little red boy now formally know as Jude and is going to make his way to Orlando, FL on Monday thank you Shawn for accepting this sweet little boy into your home and loving him. We are so excited to see the Beauceron crop on this sweet boy and I can’t wait to see him grow!

SO JUST HOW LONG DO YOUR PET’S SHOTS LAST?

Definitely longer than a year!

According to the top pet immunologist (aka vaccine expert) in the world, Dr. Ronald Schultz, Ph.D. – “ Annual revaccination provides no benefit and may increase the risk for adverse reactions.”

What the heck are adverse reactions (or side effects)?

Well according to the other rock star pet immunologist Dr. Jean Dodds:

“Side effects from dog vaccinations can occur anywhere from instantly up to several weeks or months later. Vaccines can even cause susceptibility to chronic diseases that appear much later in a dog’s life (Dodd, 2001).

Severe and fatal adverse reactions include:

•Susceptibility to infections.

•Neurological disorders and encephalitis.

•Aberrant behavior, including unprovoked aggression.

•Vaccines are linked to seizures. Distemper, parvovirus, rabies and, presumably, other vaccines have been linked with poly neuropathy, a nerve disease that involves inflammation of several nerves. (Dodds,2001)”

SO HOW LONG EXACTLY DOES YOUR PET’S VACCINE LAST?

According to the recommendations of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), (basically the dudes who set the standards for the vets): “Among healthy dogs, all commercially available [core] vaccines are expected to induce a sustained protective immune response lasting at least 5 yr. thereafter”

Here’s the breakdown of the core vaccines from Dr. Ronald Schultz:

Minimum Duration of Immunity for Canine Vaccines:

Distemper- 7 years by challenge
Parvovirus – 7 years by challenge
Adenovirus – 7 years by challenge
Canine rabies – 3 years by challenge

The moral of the story here, if you have no idea when your pet is due or has been vaccinated, then just run a titer test and this will confirm if you are due, rather than over-vaccinate your poor pet, setting the stage for future problems!

What’s a titer test?

A titer test (pronounced tight-errr) is a laboratory or in-house veterinary test measuring the existence and level of antibodies (necessary to fight off disease) in your pet’s blood. Basically, it’s a test that will tell you whether or not you actually need to vaccinate your pet.

It’s also super useful when making a decision about vaccinating a pet with an unknown vaccination history, or for determining if pets have received immunity from vaccination.

Vaccinating your pet is super important so don’t lose the overall message here: VACCINATE, JUST DON’T OVER-VACCINATE!

According to Dr. Dodds:

“Vaccines have achieved many important benefits for companion animals, and has saved more animals' lives than any other medical advance.”

Great info!!

Great info!!

We have had quite a run of post from puppy owners who are "bringing a puppy home during a fear period" and would like advice on how to travel with their puppy in a way that minimizes exposure to potentially damaging fear.

As a puppy owner, it's going to be very difficult for you to know if your puppy is in a fear period because you won't have a frame of reference for the behavioral markers. To review, the behavioral markers are:

1. Acute (sudden)
2. Transitory (passes within a day or two)
3. Fear of the FAMILIAR

It's not a generalized fear - your puppy may very well be a fearful puppy, but that's a totally different thing. Fear imprint periods have distinct behavioral markers which would be difficult to identify without a history of observing the puppy for a good portion of his life.

So, what does this mean to you as a puppy buyer traveling home with a puppy? My advice is, when in doubt, assume your puppy is in a fear period and treat him that way. So, minimize exposure to novelty, don't pass the puppy around for strangers, don't expose the puppy to strange dogs. With any luck your puppy is litter trained and I would not be taking my puppy for walks outside any more than I had to. You will do no harm this way and potentially avoid a world of hurt. Just tell people your puppy is not vaccinated so you don't want him to interact with them/their dog.

If you've gotten a puppy from a breeder who has the knowledge and expertise to recognize fear periods and they can assure you that your puppy is past that "8 week" fear period (which can be anywhere from 7 to 11 weeks), you might be able to enjoy more "experiences" with your puppy on the trip home. But even so, remember that our mantra at Puppy Culture is that all interactions should be "curated and controlled" so this is not a free-for-all. You're taking a baby away from the only family he has ever known, possibly during a sensitive period, and also possibly right around the time he has received vaccinations, which mean that his body's bandwidth is being taken up by the huge project of manufacturing antibodies. Again, you're not going to pick up huge additional gains by allowing people and dogs to interact with your puppy during the trip, and the downside is enormous.

How stressful the trip itself is will depend on the puppy and how he was raised. I can say that any of our puppies would gladly go on a two day car trip with zero ill effects. When you think about it, they don't know they are on a plane or in a car....just proceed as if everything is normal and it will be. If your puppy is under-socialized or not crate trained or unaccustomed to motion, it's really too late to do anything much about that. Unfortunately, there is no protocol that is going to make up for lack of good foundation, so the best you can do is limit the potential for damage.

Definitely some bedding from his breeder's house might help. Adaptil spray is hugely helpful. Making sure that his bladder and bowels are empty so he is not uncomfortable is important.

The reality is that it's going to happen that some people bring their puppies home during a fear period, and it's also reality that most puppy owners will not know whether their puppy is in a fear period because most breeders still adhere to placing puppies at a certain age without regard to the actual developmental period of the puppies.

Look at these handsome boys! (4weeks old puppies are so hard to get pictures of lmao 🤣)
