Do you know nutraceuticals are not considered medicinal products and are consequently not regulated by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA)? Manufacturers are not required to provide scientific information to legal authorities for approval.

VRS products are tested for:
🏷Label claim accuracy
🪙heavy metals
🦠pathogenic bacteria
☣️pesticides and herbicides
(They also share test results on their website)

They also have a vet tech line that will reach out to you (if requested)
☎️To answer any questions about the product
🚗They will also set you up with home delivery refills

Another product line we have had available for sometime, Standard Process.

I believe a large number of pets could benefit from either of these products!

UPDATE: we are good on towels 😁

Hi friends,

We could use some old towels if you are doing any fall cleaning. You helped us a lot last time, which we greatly appreciated. No blankets!, we have tons and tons of those.

Thanks.

Hi everybody, I'm looking hoping for this post to be interactive. I'd like to know what supplement(s) you give your 🐕 or 🐈, and why. Also if you don't give any, I'd like to know why. I'll be sharing a new company/product we carry and why later.

I've given a variety of supplements to my dogs over the last couple years ~ glucosamine, musculoskeletal support, fish oils (multiple brands), mushrooms, and probiotics. I'll dive into the mushrooms in a later post, yes there are good ones out there. 😉

Have a great day!
Dr Steph

Friendly reminder to our friends coming from Manitowoc/Two Rivers area.

In summary of the post yesterday afternoon (all information below is from the website). They have moved on to phase 2 (blue line) in the construction project, WIS 310 from County R (Manitowoc) to Columbus Street (Two Rivers).

US 10/WIS 310 will generally remain open during construction except during roundabout work in September 2024. There will be a short-term (2-week) closure of the roadway.

WIS 310 will be closed and detoured September 9 through September 20, 2024, to through traffic between I-43 and WIS 42 in Two Rivers.
closure is necessary for inlet construction and resurfacing at the County R, County Q, and County B roundabouts.

Please give yourself extra time.
On the plus side, road 🚧 👷‍♂️ season is almost done. ❄️

Good morning! Sorry I've been behind on posts but finally something new today.

As majority of you know surgery days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings (occasionally Tuesdays and Thursdays), which is where I spend majority of my time. We do 4 to 6 surgeries a day, it will vary due to pet type and size, and surgical time expected.

At times it may seem like we are standing around but everything we do is dependent on the pet.

Majority of pets get premedications, with most needing 20 minutes maybe more, to help them relax. Once relaxed and sleepy we move to the IV catheter and induction phase. If you ever had surgery this is when the anesthesiologist asks you to start counting backwards.

After they are fully sedated there is positioning, prepping the surgical site, and setting up monitoring equipment. It can get a little crowded at the surgery table with lines and tubes!

After surgery is completed all patients spend 5 to 10 minutes just resting and breathing pure oxygen. Once they give an indication they can breath on room air they are unhooked from the equipment and placed on the floor (on blankets) and stay in our sights until they decide to walk out of the room.

And on that note, Doctors get a lot of thanks for keeping pet safe, and completing a successful procedure. But do you know who else you should thank, the technician(s)! Kaley, Claire, Liz, and Lacey are there for your pet monitoring the heart rate, anesthesia depth, breathing rate and patterns. They report to the doctor any changes that occur before, during, and after their procedure. Every procedure has a dedicated technician!

Enjoy your Tuesday!
Dr Steph

Good morning folks!

My Monday morning quick tip... diarrhea dogs. Don't panic! Ask yourself a few questions and make a couple changes and you might be able to avoid a visit to the clinic.

Questions to ask yourself before calling (these are what I tend to ask)
🐶Is s/he lethargic or painful?
🐶Did we start any new food or treats? Including evaluation of the current dry food... new vs old bag?, how old is it (ie is it moldy?), how long has it been open?
🐶 Any new medications/supplements?
🐶Did they get into anything? Chew up a toy/blanket in the last few weeks?Any missing socks? Eating around bird feeders? Any grilling recently?

If your pet is happy go lucky and acting normal but has awful diarrhea... stop ✋️ feeding it! Even a bland diet, stop! Skip one meal, let the GI tract calm down (but continue to offer small amounts of water). After you skip a meal start back with a bland diet. You can feed beef/chicken with rice+/- pumpkin if you like. My go to for my pets, is scrambled eggs. Just eggs, no cheese/milk/seasonings.

Simple, sudden diarrhea should resolve in about 24 hours and often antibiotics are not needed.

Good morning! I'm starting with a simple behind the scenes picture. The lab station.
We have the capability to run
~ CBC /complete blood count (red machine)
~ Chemistry panels (grey doors)
~ urine (has the yellow strip on it)
~ heartworm/tick tests (4 little rectangles)

If you are ever at the clinic when the machines are all running, our apologies. The chemistry machine spins the sample fast to separate the blood/serum prior to analysis and it sounds like we are leaving on a ✈️.

We also have the capabilities to do cultures.
~ Majority of cultures are milk samples. With basic milk cultures farms would be able to isolate & identify contagious pathogens. Liz does majority of these.
~ Some cultures are for urine. Cultures help determine which pathogen is causing the issue , followed with a sensitivity to determine the best antibiotics.
~ Few cultures are ear debris, or anything else. If it has the potential of bacteria in/on it, it can be cultured.
