The last two weekends have been a trip! Abi and Rosa earned reserve high point champion at the NavaRio final show of the series. This weekend Abi earned high point at the LSYHA ranch show, she and Rosa were so in Sync and they the won the Series High Point!
Abi will retire Rosa to the broodmare band to begin raising babies!
So proud of our little cowgirl and all she had learned the last couple years.

SHOT World 2023
The close of Alli’s first year showing with the Stock Horse of Texas was not at all what we had planned… not the horses we planned to take, and not the chance to go for a year end. But, our Alli took on the challenge and we are so proud of her!!!

Not to bad for the 4th horse she has shown this year! And only the second time she had actually shown at the lope!
Go 2 Cookie was a bit more tired and well the baby bobbles got the best of them.

Lone Star Youth Horse Association LSYHA Fall ranch Show #2 is in the books!
We loaded 2 trailers with 9 horses and almost all the tack we own and spent the better part of the day having fun in Sinton!
Alli showed 3 horses today
7 Month Old weanling
-first outing and he trotted in halter and tried to stand still… 4th in halter, 3rd in Walk trot showmanship.
2nd in Showmanship, 1st in trail and 2nd in rail. Didn’t finish the show due to some soreness but he was still reserve in the youth!

1st show loping, lots of bobbles, but finally got our head straight for reining, still have a long way to go but really like where this mare is headed! She might just have to go work some cows for a bit!
It was a fabulous day with a lot of laughs, lessons and learning! Thank you to all the show staff and our family and friends that show up to support our passion!

SHOT show in Bryan this weekend…
Alli made great progress with both horses. Placings were not what Alli wanted but she is making so much progress we could not be more proud!
got flying lead changes in ranch riding and Reining, and minus the near catastrophic fall in cow they have improved so much!
got 8th in Stock Horse Pleasure! She is finally getting those transitions down! She even made a turn on the cow on her own!
This kid has all the try in the world, we are so excited to see the growth she and her horses have made!

Sometimes you have to look at progress and not placings. Alli is such an incredible kid!! Not only did she show two horses in a very tough Novice youth division of 54 kids at the Hamilton Stock Horse of Texas show but she is doing it quite well!
Maui
Had a rocky start to the weekend showing up sore in trail only to find he had a nail bothering him. Pulled the nail and that dude did his thing in Stock Horse Pleasure! Y’all I wish the lighting was better so you could see him hunting that trot!!! 10th place!
We had some bobbles and errors in reining and cow, but Alli and Maui nailed all the lope offs in Reining!!!! First time in months! And look at the butt tuck! So proud!
This mare has come so far!

Yesterday Jimmy and I went to check fence. Naturally, this is a great activity for a couple young horses. We also took some time to get a little Ranch Trail practice in. 13 miles makes for some tired ponies! #realranchtrails

We posted about Alli doing transitions on her 3 year old gelding, we didn’t post her trail practice. She’s getting tough, and he’s learning! So exciting to see them grow!! So here’s the trail.
Moving Yearlings in the Rain
It’s probably not a surprise that we had to work a few yearlings in the rain. These show horses do a great job outside the arena too!
When its too wet for the truck…
We went to check cattle today, it was a bit wet and boggy. Good thing it wasn’t an issue for Don Causey & Rachel Causey’s geldings! One even took the molasses tubs back to the truck.
