✨ Winston Update! ✨

Our brave 10-week-old kitten, Winston, is doing so well after his amputation surgery!

We first shared Winston’s story to kick off GivingTuesday, the night before his surgery. You make lifesaving work like this possible. ❤️

And the best news: Winston is being adopted by the same wonderful people who found him and brought him to us! What a purrfect ending.

Thank you for being part of his journey.

It's Thank You Wednesday and we are overflowing with gratitude.

Thanks to supporters like you, The Crate Escape campaign is 89% towards our financial goal.

Our amazing community showed up for our shelter animals yesterday, helping Andrew and Dave raise enough "bail" to make their "crate escape" following a day in lock-up. We’re also sending a heartfelt shoutout to Richard and Lynn Bibbee from Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial for their generous match.

If you didn't have the chance to make your gift yesterday, it's not too late! Our Board, staff, and volunteers appreciate your support, of any amount. GivingTuesday: https://givebutter.com/CRATEESCAPE
Many thanks to our wonderful community!

And speaking of gratitude, Rufus is a perfect reminder of why this work matters. While Dave and Andrew were “locked up” for a day, Rufus spent 373 days in our care before he was finally adopted. Our team adored him and made sure he had enrichment, exercise, and attention every single day while he waited for his family to find him. Your generosity helps make that kind of safety, comfort, and love possible for every pet who needs us.

There’s still time to make your impact this !

Andrew & Dave were locked in their kennel ALL DAY and just got out. Check out their “Crate Escape” freedom video and see how their dedication to homeless pets impacted lives like Frankie: https://givebutter.com/CRATEESCAPE

♥️ Frankie’s Life Changed for the Better

Frankie came to us as a stray in April of this year. He was around 2 years old, emaciated at a 2 out of 9 body condition score, dehydrated, anemic, had impaired vision and GI distress. He was struggling to eat any food offered — even when administered an appetite stimulant.

Our team stepped in with supportive care: subcutaneous fluids, antibiotics, anxiety medication, heat support, and a lot of love and patience.

Finally, a breakthrough came when a staff member heated their lunch containing turkey—Frankie’s ears perked up at the aroma! We offered him some plain turkey, and he eagerly dug in. From that point on, he would only eat boiled chicken or turkey. Thanks to our dedicated volunteers who prepared turkey or chicken meals for him, Frankie gradually gained strength.

With attentive care, Frankie transitioned to canned cat food and eventually dry food, resolving his digestive issues. He was neutered and placed up for adoption. Today, thanks to volunteer Anna, Frankie is thriving in his forever home — no longer picky, eating everything offered, and earning the affectionate nickname “little vacuum.”

Frankie’s journey is just one of many lives your donation helps transform. Every gift tonight helps animals like Frankie find freedom, health, and a loving home.

𝗦𝗲𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗗𝗶𝗲𝗴𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱!

You may remember Diego. When he first arrived at our shelter, he was a tiny, hurting puppy—then called Damon—struggling with a jaw fractured in three places. He faced two major surgeries, the loss of several teeth, and weeks with his jaw wired shut. Your support gave him a second chance at life.

Today, Diego is thriving with his big brothers, one kiddo and one doggo, and loving every minute! He enjoys family walks, soaking up the sun, garden adventures with Dad, and cozy couch cuddles. Curious, playful, and always ready for a snack, he never wants to miss a thing.

This was all possible thanks to our supporters. Help us help them this : https://givebutter.com/CRATEESCAPE

❤️ 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗘𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: WE ARE HALFWAY TO OUR GOAL!

Dave and Andrew are still relaxing in their kennel and enjoying plenty of enrichment — but the competition is heating up! Team Andrew vs. Team Dave: who will raise the most “bail” and make their escape first? Every dollar brings them closer to freedom and helps animals like Diego, who went from kennel to couch and is now loved beyond words.

It’s HERE — has officially begun!

Our fearless Baltimore Humane Society leaders Andrew Levine (Board President) and Dave Krajewski (Board Treasurer), are now locked in kennels for The Crate Escape Challenge!

They won’t get out until they raise their “bail” each with a goal of $25,000— and every dollar you give helps them and the animals like Dobbie who rely on us every single day. 💙

𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗼𝗯𝗯𝗶𝗲, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗽𝗽𝘆 𝗹𝗲𝗳𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.

Dobbie is only six months old. When she was found, she was completely alone—emaciated and unsure of the world around her. Her paws looked far too big for her fragile, underweight body. We brought her into our care, where for the first time in her young life she has steady meals, warmth, and a safe place to rest.

In those first days here, Dobbie was shy, sick, and congested. But with patience, medical treatment, and love, she’s slowly learning that she’s finally safe and regaining strength. She’s beginning to wag her tail, play with toys, and experience the simple joy of being loved.

Your compassion makes this transformation possible for Dobbie—and for so many other vulnerable animals.

💙 Give back to those who need it most today and help or make an escape: https://givebutter.com/CRATEESCAPE

Winston is a 10-week-old kitten who came into our care a few days ago. A couple found him outside, struggling to move and dragging his back left leg. He couldn’t bear any weight at all, so they reached out to us immediately.

When he arrived, it was clear something was terribly wrong. His left back leg appeared broken—likely in multiple places. Even more concerning, he showed almost no pain response, suggesting significant nerve damage on top of the breaks.

Despite everything, Winston handled his intake with quiet bravery. We gave him a long-lasting pain injection to keep him comfortable, but unfortunately, the leg is too damaged to save. He’s scheduled for amputation tomorrow, with a quoted cost of $1,000.

With upon us, we’re rallying support for Winston and animals just like him. This tiny, gentle kitten has already endured more than any baby animal should, yet he still purrs when held and leans into our hands for comfort. With proper care and surgery, he can live a full, happy life.

💚 Donate to help Winston and help us help others in urgent need: https://givebutter.com/CRATEESCAPE

The Crate Escape Challenge-

Tomorrow is , and our BHS leaders — Andrew (Board President) and Dave (Board Treasurer) — are trading comfort for compassion in The Crate Escape Challenge to help animals like Winston.

They’ll be locked in kennels until they raise enough “bail” to make their escape. And this year, your support goes even further: Modern Woodmen Fraternal Financial is matching donations up to $2,500! Check it out here: https://givebutter.com/CRATEESCAPE

Looking for a pup who’s ready to join you on all of life’s everyday adventures? Meet Pickles! 🐾

1-year-old Pickles recently hit the town for a much-needed break from shelter life, and wow—did he shine! Our staff member Katie took him out, knowing he’d been feeling a little stressed, and Pickles soaked up every minute of fun.

🥾 Adventure Stop #1: A 2.5-Mile Hike!
Pickles was a perfect hiking buddy. Walking the whole time beautifully, enjoying the fresh air. He’s the kind of dog who makes you smile just watching him explore.

🛠️ Adventure Stop #2: Harbor Freight!
Yes, Pickles went hardware shopping and he was a star! He made new friends, brightened everyone’s day, and stayed super attentive during training moments. He listened to his name like a champ and was the sweetest gentleman in the store.

🛍️ Adventure Stop #3: Marshalls!
Pickles wrapped up his outing by picking out his very own toy.

If you’re searching for a dog who’s ready to explore the world with you—Pickles might be your guy. Meet him this weekend from 12PM - 5PM!

We are feeling incredibly thankful! 💛🐾

Just a few weeks ago we posted an Emergency Pet Food Drive plea. We received an amazing response, and are truly overwhelmed by the generosity of our community.

To every single person who donated, shared our posts, or spread the word, thank you. You consistently go above and beyond, and because of your support, we’re able to continue serving families and pets facing hard times through our Bmore Kind Pet Food Bank.

We also want to extend a very special thank-you to the local businesses who hosted donation boxes at their stores. Pet Supplies Plus Eldersburg, Petco Owings Mills, PetSmart Towson, My Pet Store and More, Howl, Tractor Supply Co. and Pet Depot, Timonium MD. Your partnership helped make this drive a success, and we are so grateful for your continued support.

The need is constant, but so is the kindness of this community.
We appreciate you more than words can say. 🐶🐱💛
