Teddy on the table
I'd like to introduce everyone to Teddy.
Teddy has a wonderful and loving family who have cared flawlessly for this special boy.
I first met them when they brought his "Brother" Tokio. They told me about their other dog, he was so sweet but HATED to be groomed and go to a vet.
Like a total amateur, I said "bring it on, i can work with anything" π
famous last words.
His first "grooming" was more of a hack job. And I had a few bandaids at the end π€¦ββοΈI did learn something very valuable. The grooming table was actually a major trigger for his fear based anxiety/aggression. In 12 years of grooming I've never come across a dog that is a completely different animal on the floor vs on the table.
After a religious 4week schedule and roughly 6 appointments. This was our lovely boy today. ππ€ I almost cried when he took a treat from my hands AFTER a grooming and nail trim. I am beyond grateful for his owners trusting me with his care. And so proud of how fast Teddy is learning. It won't be long and he will be standing perfectly and looking Westminster ready.
Many times I will say that your pet "stood like a show dog". Now what does this mean exactly?
Show dogs are raised on a table. It means good things. To them, their table is a safe space. Many tines if you walk through the stations behind the ring you will see dogs curled up or napping in beds... on their tables.
This form of comfort and confidence is something i strive to teach ALL of our babies. That table should mean great things. Here is 2 clips of the flawless Rum aka Rumchatta. Rum has 2 conflicting breeds that question her surroundings a bit. The shepherd side must control every situation while the LGD side must do perimeter searches and keep her pack safe. Teaching her to enjoy her spa time took calm support.
At her past grooming appointment she demonstrated her comfort by showing off her show dog side. She was untethered for her entire grooming. And even stepped up on the table with a verbal request. I'm so proud of her confidence. It really makes my job so enjoyable when my babies thrive
Hey poodle pack!
This week we replaced our old baby gate with a shiny, and more durable new one. Unfortunately due to a design flaw all smaller dogs will have to be safely tucked away in "doggie jail". There may be some protesting from the pups, but this is so we have no escapees.
Thank you for your cooperation while we have a new gate sent. π
Lacy showing us just why we should measure it twice π
Did you know, before grooming dogs, Madison groomed horses?

I met my match today. This is the first time in my career I have been unable to fully dematt an animal. Paula is now in the compassionate hands of Paws For Seniors and will be receiving all the needed medical care, and a sedated grooming (for her safety) by New Baltimore Animal Hospital staff. I know she's going to thrive in their care. If you could please donate to her care that would be AMAZINGπ
