Pepper likes to play early easter egg hunt games. Barn, run-in, snowblower, tractor seat. Pretty much anywhere but in her nesting box. Wonder where today's will be. 😄

Edited: It was -32 here last night. Stomping for once didn't work but I could chip the rubber pans right out without fear of damaging them from an ice pick. Quick work. Also, it was pointed out that the senior feed on paper has too high a copper content for sheep. I can't say for others, but we've never had a problem with copper toxicity.

Our solution to extreme cold. Good feed and rubber tubs. We don't blanket until we body clip, but we do feed excellent high fat feed. I feed Triple crown maintenance or T.c. Senior to not just the ponies, but also the sheep. They love it, and it keeps them warm. For the chickens and rabbits, we use black rubber pans for water since I don't have heaters for their water. Every morning we flip the frozen pan over and STOMP on it. Ice comes right out, then we refill with warm water for everyone to drink. By the end of the day it will freeze again, but they drink their fill before then. Hope this helps someone. Included is a picture of our "chicken snow angels" to make you smile 😄

Our inexpensive loose minerals feeder. Rubbermaid bin and a few pieces of wood secured to the bottom to keep it from being tipped over. Minerals were dry even with two feet of snow last week (I brought it inside to take picture) just keep the opening opposite the wind and it works great. Thought we’d share someone else’s great idea.

Just dropped off about 50 pounds of wool at Battenkill yesterday and will have 2 ply artisan yarn, batting, and roving available when it comes back! They are fabulous and also host tours of their mill and arrange European specialized tours for fiber artists!

We've got good news for you, -- weaving yarn is on the way! 🏃‍♀️ Here, we're pin drafting some beautiful fiber in classic ecru to be turned into yarns Lilly Marsh will use in upcoming woven goods.⁠

No problems with the cold, thankfully. Critters have run in with deep straw, all you can eat hay, and de-icer on the trough. Can't say the tiny raptors have ventured too far past their padded perches though!
