Pipe Dream's Double Suited "Hunter" is a 3yr old Bay Roan, Registered Percheron Stallion. He is registered with the Percheron Horse Association of America.
He is available to the right home and the right person. I do not want to see this young stallion go to waste. May be willing to work something out with some retained breedings. I am not horrible to work with, and references are not an issue. There are enough people who have stood at my farm, seen my horses, and spent hours talking to me. Plenty of them who now have horses of my name at their homes.
He is located in Remus, Michigan.
While color isn't everything, it does deserve to be preserved. I have preached about quality over quantity in the "colored" Percherons for quite some time. About doing it right and not just pumping foals out to bump up numbers. Everyone breeds differently, and this is just my opinion. It's also not an overnight thing where the end goal of perfection could be achieved in only one generation.. greatness takes time. I started documenting Percherons of Color back in the fall of 2003' before I even owned my first Percheron.
Hunter is not inherently difficult. Much like his full brother Hector, he's very agreeable to be around. He has a lot of try. He's not extremely reactive even when unsure. He comes right up to me when called. He's got a liking for my son, which I consider impressive. Spend any amount of time with them, and some horses are not as keen with strangers.
Hunter leads, ties, bathes. He's always been kept on pasture. He's always been in a herd situation and was changed over to a complete bachelor situation just before his 1st birthday. He is not the lead horse. At this point, he does not call for, worry about, or talk to mares. He does not pace the fenceline. He has all he needs. Food, water, and his buddy, Luce. He has not covered a mare up to this point. Shouldn't be difficult. All the hardware is there.
He is not broke to ride or drive. He has 4 legs and a brain, there is no reason he cannot become more in his life.
He stands a massive, 17.1hh.. which isn't really that big, but not really that small either. He's a touch more modern like his sire. Could stand to carry another 100lbs on his frame. Needs an owner with time who can give him the focus in life he deserves.
He is PSSM1 negative. EeAaRnN. He can produce Black, Bay, Chestnut, Blue Roan, Bay Roan and with luck, Red Roan. He is the only living horse in the breed who can do this. He's what I always wanted to go forward with.
Why am I parting with him? I own 4 other stallions. His full brother is one of them. So even though he isn't as color cool as Hunter, I feel Hunter deserves someone serious who wants to be a big part in the Percheron breed.
