Meet Tony Hawk! 🛹

No, not the actual skater, his feline counterpart! Tony Hawk is a 5 month old domestic shorthair male who came to us as a stray.

Like the pro skater, he can be a bit standoffish at first, shy but friendly. It's only until he's comfortable enough that you'll see his sick moves, they're really gnarly! He just needs a home who'll let him shred the ramp at his own pace, you gotta start slow to gain the speed!

Meet Savage Sam, who's not-so savage!!!

Savage Sam is a 5 year old, male Coonhound mix who came to us as a stray.

Savage Sam is the sweetest big boy around and like his Old Yeller namesake, he’s a loyal companion who is fine with his own company but enjoys people.

He already knows some commands, walks nicely on a leash, and is a pretty mellow dude. BUT he is a coonhound. There’s no doubt about that. Some people love that telltale bay, some don’t. And he’s got a stubborn streak. But that face! And his silly little loping gate! He’s a great middle-aged mutt.

Same would do well in most homes. He doesn’t necessarily play with other dogs, but he enjoys their company, and he does well with cats (surprisingly, for a hound dog!) Sam would need to meet all members of the family, including any dogs, before he could go home.

This sweet girl is a purr machine who wants nothing more than to spend her days exploring and playing! Of course, that's how a lot of kittens are, but that's the best part about them!! She's fierce, confident, friendly, loving... she's the perfect gift wrapped up in a cute lil package (and just in time for the holidays!)

Today is Mason's 3 year anniversary here at BCHS. While he’s happy at the shelter and comfortable with us, this is not the life we have envisioned for him. He needs an experienced owner who will respect his boundaries in his day-to-day life and will give him a solid chance.

We call him the “The Trickster of Love”; he can be like Cupid’s evil twin from time to time, luring people in with his little wiggly body and his little happy dances - then BOOM! Suddenly this bundle of dancing white fur is hurtling towards you faster than lightning while spitting fire! It is really quite a feat to witness.

He has a lot of dislikes too. He doesn’t like most men. He doesn’t like kids. He doesn’t like if you breathe in his direction sometimes. He doesn’t like anything but chicken. He doesn’t like strangers. He doesn’t like the vet. He doesn’t like if the wind blows north or west.

If all that hasn’t won you over yet, the cherry on top of all his other endearing qualities just might be his minor medical issues. Mason has a wheezy cough that amps up when he is mad or excited (so birdwatching like a ninja without being noticed immediately and scaring them all away is off the table). He likes to vomit here and there, and can only eat chicken (currently he has a personal chef because he tricked her into falling in love with him). Oh- and Mason has a thyroid issue. So, he has to see the vet for general check-ups a few times a year, and since he hates the vet, this is also a super pleasant experience for everyone involved.

All of this being said, Mason actually does have an incredibly sweet personality- when he trusts you. He is very smart, cuddly and energetic, and just needs to be afforded patience and someone who will keep his world small.

Mason would thrive in a home without children. If there are other dogs in the home, a dog introduction would be required, and cats are currently a possibility.
