Meet Smoke! She's a 7 month old long haired kitty who came in as a stray along with her siblings, Pepper (who is maxxed on apps) and Menace. She's the more shy one of the bunch, as she's still getting used to the shelter environment. But she's getting to know some of the other cats and has been able to slowly decompress with them! Give her sometime to warm up to you and you could be snuggling with her by the fire this winter!

Smoke's adoption fee is waived from December 1st-17th thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation Holiday Hope adoption event!

Meet Frankie! He's a 5 year old pitbull mix who came to us as a stray on 7/17/2023. This big boy loves to pretend to be a lap dog, go for car rides for doggy days out, and is a true foodie when it comes to hot dogs! He doesn't quite understand how strong he can be, but give him a chance and he'll show you his heart is as big as him!

Frankie's adoption fee is waived from December 1st-17th thanks to BISSELL Pet Foundation Holiday Hope adoption event!

***Update: She has been adopted!!***

Grizabella was once a loving mama to a beautiful litter of kittens, and now that they’ve all found their forever homes, it’s her turn to shine. She’s ready to start a new chapter as a cherished family member. She would love a family, couple, or individual looking for a calm, affectionate companion. Grizabella gets along well with other cats and would thrive in a home that can offer her love, attention, and a comfortable space to relax.
Grizabella is 4 years old.

Hi there, my name is Bubba and one of my favorite things to do is eat just about anything! However, after a good snack I also enjoy going for short walks, napping, playing with tennis balls, and spending time with those I love. I prefer to take my walks slow and steady (and with lots of treat breaks, as well). I like to take in my surroundings before I do anything and during this time I may look intimidating due to my size and quirks, but I am really just a big blob of love that will be more than happy to share some with you once we get to know each other. Seriously, just ask the staff and volunteers here! Speaking of the humans here, they say I look pretty darn cute when I sit and give paw!

I would do best in a quiet home. If you’re looking for a sweet, slobbery boy, come meet me! I’ll even wake up from one of my extravagant naps just to see you.

With Giving Tuesday a few weeks away, we want to shine light on our amazing fosters. The time, energy, resources and love they share with our animals is something that is truly beautiful and appreciated.

Sushi has been with the Butler County Humane Society for 656 days, making him our longest current feline resident. He came to us as a stray in horrible condition, he was losing fur, had an URI and scabs all over. After some initial testing, we found out that he is FELV+ (Feline Leukemia positive) which is something he will have for his entire life. He was also diagnosed with stomatitis, which causes inflammation in his mouth that hinders his ability and comfortability, so a decision was reached to extract his teeth to make him feel comfortable again. Because of his circumstances, this has hindered his chance to find a home that's made for him. He's great with dogs and can be the only animal in the home, but if there are other cats in the home, they would also have to be FELV+ since it is transferrable.

While he's still searching for his forever home, a foster of ours decided to help him with his kennel stress and anxiety. He's been in foster for a little over a year and he is absolutely thriving. He has a canine buddy that he snuggles with, loves his food (wet and dry!) and has been given the love and care that he deserves. Because of our foster, he has shown so much improvement and is ready to find the purrfect home for him!

There are many reasons animals may go into foster; to monitor health issues like Sushi, showing signs of kennel stress, needs to be bottle fed, help with socialization, or even just to welcome them into a comfortable home environment while in search of their forever home. Even if it's just for a weekend, it truly changes their lives and helps us learn how they are in a home environment, which helps us find the right home for them. We want to thank all of our fantastic fosters who truly make a difference in these animals lives. If you're ever looking to share some love, we would love for you to become a foster ❤

Gummy Bear is as sweet as candy. She is an older girl who found her way to the shelter right before Halloween. Gummy Bear is a gentle soul, who is looking for a lap to cuddle up on. She may have some slight vision loss, but won’t stop her for having eyes only for you! Since Gummy Bear is so chill, she most likely would enjoy a home that is also very chill, but she is open to all possibilities for a fresh start right now.
Gummy Bear seems tolerant of other dogs, and appears to be comfortable with cats. If there are kids or dogs in the home, an introduction is required

We love a happy ending! Quill's finder knew the second that they met, she just couldn't live without him. On Friday, Quill went to his forever home with his finder and two fur-siblings🥰

When Quill arrived at BCHS he was immediately taken to an emergency vet to remove porcupine quills that had been embedded around his mouth for quite some time. We're thankful for concerned community members, like Quills new mom, who seek help for animals. Thank you for caring about Quill and for adopting! Happy Tails!

From Wesley's owner:

"Wesley has been doing great! He is learning a lot and is so smart! He picked up on his new name quickly with some training. He is doing super well at sitting or laying until he is released. He has learned “touch”, “leave it”, “ok” and “let’s go” (for continuing walking after a sit).

He is still the biggest and best cuddler! He wants nothing more than to be on the couch with us. He is too big to be in the bed all night, but he gets so happy when we call him up in the mornings on days off.

I have told him it’s not fair that he needs to have “horse manners” (meaning more similar to the expectations I set for my horse rather than a smaller dog). But he responds very well to the boundaries. I am very confident that he will continue to improve!

Thank you again for everything you did for Wes and for all the animals in your care!"
