Aspen Animal Wellness turned 4 years old on November 18th! We'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the friends, family, clients, and pets who stopped by to celebrate with us by visiting the Salty Paws ice cream truck and bringing by donations for the Nevada Humane Society! You've helped make our little celebration all the more meaningful, and a special thanks to Aimee for helping coordinate and organize our fun. We're all looking forward to another year of providing pets with the best care we have available!

Happy Thanksgiving Week, Aspen clients and patients!

We have no doubt you're all looking forwards to the holiday and its many treats- as are your pets. However, please remember that your cats and dogs should not indulge in your dinner and appetizers, nor should they partake in leftover ham bones or turkey carcasses. The ingredients in most human dishes may cause GI upset, and bones can necessitate an ER visit if your pet becomes blocked or gets a shard stuck in their throat.

Consider purchasing your pet an appropriate chew toy before the holiday to enjoy alongside you and your family at dinnertime. Remember that all chew toys should pass the “fingernail” test. If your fingernail leaves an indentation on the toy when gently pressed, it’s probably not too hard and not likely to break teeth. Pets should be supervised when chewing on toys. When a toy begins to break apart, throw it away! If your pet inhales chews, do not offer them, as they could cause choking.

Monday, November 18th is Aspen Animal Wellness' 4th birthday! On that day, from 11am to 3pm, we will be celebrating with a pet photo booth and an ice cream party with the Salty Paws Ice Cream Truck for pets! They will have several fun flavors available for purchase.

If you are able, help us celebrate our birthday by donating to the Nevada Humane Society via our lobby's donation bin. We will be accepting your donations through Monday, November 25th; please see the NHS' provided wishlist for suggested items.

Serving our community, helping our patients and loving your pets has always been our pleasure. We look forward to many more years of committing to the quality care of your fur babies.

Welcome to November, pet parents! Let's store away our 10-foot skeletons, bring out our cornucopias, and remember to be thankful to the people & pets who enrich our lives this month.

Here in Reno, our evening and early morning temperatures are dropping into the thirties and below. While it might be a little longer before the snow falls and sticks, continue to be mindful of dropping temperatures. If it's too cold for you outside, it's likely too cold for Fluffy- even with the fur coat! Pet-appropriate clothing is fashionable and functional, and your shorter-furred friends will appreciate the additional comfort!

Practice safe style, and ensure your animal is supervised while wearing clothing. When dressing brachycephalic breeds, like our pictured employee pet Pudge, consult your veterinarian.
