Did you know Corgis were originally bred to be herding dogs? Their short legs and fluffy booties actually had a purpose. Their low center of gravity made it easy for them to duck under cattle and nip at heels, helping move herds with surprising speed and agility. 🚜🐄

Another fun fact: Corgis are known for their big personalities. They’re confident, clever, and always ready to make you laugh. It’s one of the reasons they’re such a popular breed in training. 🐶💛

Hey everyone! Allow me to introduce — or reintroduce — myself! My name is Mike, and I’m the owner of Sit Means Sit Nevada. You can follow me personally here 👉 .

Times are tough right now… not just for me, but for so many of us. And that’s exactly why I’m making a shift back to where my heart has always been: training dogs and supporting their humans.

Running the business is important, but my true passion has always been being a dog trainer, not sitting behind a desk. So as things change, I’m changing with them.

Dogs are incredibly intuitive, and they’re watching everything we do! 👀🐶

They learn our habits fast, including how often we reach for that treat bag. If they realize listening only happens when a snack is involved… you’ve just trained them to wait for the treat instead of you. 😅

That’s exactly why we don’t rely on treats during training. Instead, we use motivation, structure, and clear communication so your dog listens because they understand what’s being asked... not because there’s food on the line. 💪🐾

When you give treats at other times (for fun, affection, or surprise rewards), you remove the “treat barrier” and build a dog who listens anytime, anywhere, treat or no treat. 🙌❤️

Did you know that large dogs are often treated differently than small dogs, and not just because of their size? 🐶⬆️⬇️

Big dogs tend to move through the world differently. Their body language, play style, and energy levels can be intimidating to smaller dogs and sometimes even to people. Because of that, they often get less social freedom, which can lead to frustration or reactivity. 😬

Small dogs, on the other hand, are often overprotected and not held to the same behavioral standards. This can make them more anxious or “barky” when faced with the big world around them. 🐕💬

The truth is, every dog—big or small—benefits from structure, socialization, and confidence-building training. When you set expectations early, you help your dog, no matter the size, navigate the world calmly and confidently. 🧠🐾

Having a solid foundation in obedience training means getting to do more with your dog — including fun photo shoots like this one featuring Arrow 📸🐶

Now here’s the thing about Arrow… he’s a reactive dude. The presence of most other dogs? Let’s just say he finds it less than enjoyable 😅

BUT through consistent training and focusing on replacement behaviors, Arrow’s learned how to manage his emotions and make better choices when faced with triggers. 🙌

While he may never be an off-leash dog park kind of guy, peaceful walks, car rides, and yes — photo shoots — are all things on Arrow’s growing list of can-dos! 💪🐾

Every dog’s success looks a little different, and that’s what makes the journey so rewarding. ❤️
