Part 1
This summer, my son Seth who is 7 really wanted to help recall Ripken with the e-collar. I haven't let him do this before because I wanted to make sure he understood the levels of the e-collar and what turning it up meant and felt like so that he didn't just mess around with it and crank it really high. This is the first time he's feeling the collar in his life and I just happened to video it because I thought it would be a cute reaction. You can tell that the power is on and that I'm hitting the buttons. The buttons click when they're being held down and you can also see the green light on the remote at the top go solid when the stim is being communicated to the collar.
This is exactly how I start a dog on an e-collar. I would turn it up really really slowly and wait for some subtle reaction. I then turn it down a few levels and start training.
Next video is him working with Ripken and you can see what levels Rip is at.
I am a huge believer of remote collar training for dogs but it must be done correctly. Please do not just crank the levels up until you think your dog is feeling it. There are many many subtle reactions that dogs have to the stimulus and a lot of dogs don't even react. If you are considering doing remote collar training please hire a professional who is trained and well-versed in remote collar training.

So, what's your relationship like with your dog? Let me know in the comments down below and stay tuned for my video on what I think the three key elements to having a solid relationship with your dog are
Here's the beginning of a deep dive into your relationship with your dog. General misbehaviors like barking obnoxiously or being rude to guests coming into your house or counter surfing definitely has to do with the relationship you have with your dog. Obedience is also key but as I've mentioned before, if your dog doesn't like you or trust you or enjoy spending time with you why would you expect him to listen to you. So, let's talk about fulfilling your dog and not just exercising them. What does it look like to properly fulfill your dog's needs? I discuss a little bit in this video and I will continue discussing it. Please let me know if you have any questions
How is your relationship with your dog? Check out this video and answer some questions
Happy 4th. Please be safe!

Malaika here! This is an area at my summer home where my dogs get to swim. This evening I spent someone on one time with just Balti. No obedience, just fun. This is how you build an amazing relationship with your dog. Enrichment and fun with your dog is key. Your dog has to like you in order to respect you and listen to you. As I stated before in my video, if your dog doesn't like you and doesn't want to spend time with you how can you expect them to listen to your commands? Please find time this summer to just have fun with your dog and play even if it's for 20 minutes!
This summer, while I travel with my dogs, I will be discussing how important a relationship between you and your dogs is. I believe it's the true way of having lasting obedience. You have to have respect and quite honestly your dog has to like you in order to listen to you long term.
Stay tuned for great tips and videos on traveling and enjoying summer with your dogs.
Are you ready for fireworks??

This is Flash and my very first walk with him on the prong collar on and he's doing fantastic.
He is a gorgeous, young Golden Retriever who has very typical Golden traits:
1. He is extremely mouthy to new guests who come into the house. He puts his entire mouth on your hand or arm and is quite gentle but has in the past scratched skin and sometimes accidentally hurt people.
2. When the family sits down to eat dinner at their table, he wants to be part of that and nudges elbows and does everything he can accept jump on the table. He needs to learn manners around people eating.
3. He jumps on new guests
4. He pulls horribly on leash
5. He was remote collar-trained but we will be reconditioning that.
Flash is my new #turnkeytraining client so stay tuned.
Such great tools when used correctly. Please get help from a trainer who knows how to use these in a balanced way!

Luna, the dark Frenchie has some pretty serious resource guarding issues. She will attack her sister Zoe over anything related to humans. When her humans are around giving Zoe attention or if food is involved, Luna sorta loses it and will try to attack Zoe. This has led to many fights and it's getting quite frustrating for the family. I have been working with Luna for only about 20 minutes with the remote collar. She is on level 7 which no human would feel but she responds well to it. I am just working on her remaining calm while her sister Zoe is getting affection or doing anything. Here in this video you can see Zoe playing with the end of the leash and Luna sitting calmly next to me. I see that Luna is a bit stressed and panting but she is not reacting negatively and keeps looking up at me for redirection which is a total win.... Especially since this is only her first session!

I am so proud of Echo, the Klee Kai and Eros, the Doodle and their owner @hopeshomesnv for keeping up the work here.
The command "go lay down" means get on the carpet area and stay there. As you can see I give them the command and they eagerly run to that area and hang out there until I give them a reward. I then walk around the kitchen and move around a bit and turn my back to them and they stay there. When Echo moves, I just ask her to go back and she returns right back to the carpet.
Great job Hope and doggos!! 💙💙👏👏👏

Tools!!! This is one of the e-collars we use. @dogtraofficial makes this and it's my personal favorite.
PLEASE get professional help from a dog trainer who is familiar with these tools. It should not be just thrown on your dog and used to correct unwanted behavior.

Can you just sit and relax without your dog hovering, breathing on you, trying to climb on you or in some way demanding to be in your space?
Use this trick! You dog MUST know a solid down tho for this to work.
This is Babe a #turnkeytraining client and she is sweet and kind and in usual Golden fashion, must be near you and touch you at allllll times. It can be a bit annoying especially when you had a long day at work and you just want to come home and sit down and relax. This is a perfect trick for a dog like this because she is super food motivated and knows how to lay down on command fast.
If you want to teach your dog this, just start teaching them a really solid down/stay so that you can tell them to lay down from anywhere. Then you toss the treat away from you so the dog has to go and get it and then tell them to lay down. Easy!
Mattingly is living his walks now and his owner is overjoyed at having a well-behaved puppy on walks. 7months old and sooo great to walk.
Mattingly is a #turnkeytraining client and soon will be doing a board and train at the center to hone his skills. After that he will board with us often to get brush ups on his skills.
