The winds last night were pretty intense ahead of this winter storm! 🌬️ Only rain here, but hopefully it turns to snow!❄️ tonight it’s going to drop to the low teens so we are adding some extra protection to the tunnels to protect the baby ranunculus from the extreme temps, a blanket of snow would also help so fingers crossed we get some!

One of our favorites from this season, were our orders of Bloom Buckets for events. We offer buckets of our locally and organically grown flowers for small scale events and love putting these together for you! They are always “growers choice”, depending on what is blooming that week as every week is different. This order was for a small DIY wedding and we really love the colors we were able to put together for them! ✨🤍

Do you have a Reno/Tahoe event coming up in 2025 you’d like to make your own arrangements for and would like to use our locally grown flowers? DM us for more info, we’d love to chat more! 🌸

One of my surprise favorite dahlias this year was Terracotta. I grow very few dahlias that are not ball/decorative form, but this semi-cactus style dahlia was SO prolific and the peachy mauve coloring is just perfect for autumn! Terracotta is also affordable dahlia variety (as far as dahlia prices go!), and can usually be found for $8-$10/tuber. Needless to say, we will be growing her again next year! Have you grown terracotta? 👇💛

I have one box left of daffodil bulbs and will finally have time to get them in the ground today! 🎉💛 Last year I didn’t finish planting until Christmas 🤣 so I am ahead of schedule! ✨

I also got some new hellebores in that I’ll be tucking in the ground today as well. All the ranunculus have been planted, except I have room for more! I had a couple trays that had significant rot during pre-sprouting (this usually happens to some, but this was kind of a lot this time around—do not buy romance ranunculus!! They just rot every-time, this my second time trying them where I only got a few to survey pre-sprouting!), so I will be soaking more elegance today for planting at the end of the month to complete my beds! I always have extra ranunculus corms on hand just in case!! 💛

I’m a sucker for a good pompon dahlia! They are tiny but mighty, and really add that little adorable pop to fall bouquets. 💐 This variety is called “buttercup” and is my favorite one I have grown to date! I also love Frank Holmes (lavender), Ginger Wilo (orangish yellow), Crossfield Ebony (burgundy), and Irish D Porter (blush). What are your thoughts on pompon dahlias? Are they worth the growing space? Do you like designing with them? Share in the comments! 👇🌸

We don’t really grow dinner-plate varieties of dahlias anymore since their vase-life is pretty crap and they aren’t as usable as the ball varieties. BUT we always keep space for a few of the dahlia queen- cafe au lait! 👑

I’m looking to add a couple more colors of dahlias that I didn’t have much of last year. I had a lot of peaches. Like a lot. So what do we think of pinks?! Like super hot Barbie pinks? I keep seeing a LOT of hot pink dahlias advertised by sellers lately and I’m wondering if this will be the color of 2025?! Florists, please chime in! 🩷

Another poll to help me to determine some of the flower crops to grow in 2025. You all were so helpful with the last flower, white marigolds, about 75% of you said yes to white marigolds again. I appreciate the feedback! So, what do we think of Bells of Ireland? Worth growing again or no? Vote below 👇

Been thinking about dahlias a lot lately…. and future growing plans. Been considering for 2026, only growing 3-4 select flower crops on a max scale instead of a lot of different varieties on much smaller scale. 🤔 💭 🧐 We’ll see!!

Have you purchased some of the new ballerina zinnia seeds from ? I am curious to see how they compare to these other varieties of floret’s blush tones seeds. I purchased extras from this season. I’m really hoping for more doubles! It will be interesting to grow the two side by side!

If you haven’t planted your bulbs yet, it’s ok!! 👍 We haven’t gotten them all planted yet either! Here in Reno, zone 7b, the ground is not frozen yet. It likely won’t freeze until January when we get consistent below freezing temps (day and night temps). This weekend will be nearly 60 degrees, and rainy, so if you are looking for a great weekend to plant bulbs this upcoming one will be an awesome time! We are planning to get the remaining bulbs in this weekend, because then we have to set aside time for the ranunculus so I’d like to have all those bulbs done first. Anyway it’s always a juggle this time of year and if you are feeling behind, it’s all good, you still have time! 🤍🤍🤍
