First dahlias of the season have arrived and they are the beautiful Bloomquist Pink Parfait, captured last evening at sunset 🌸🌅
Can it be lisianthus season all year long?! 😍🤩
The chocolate cosmos have been a surprise favorite this year! 🍫 After sitting for a few months looking pretty tiny, the plants all of a sudden got huge and have been pumping out these long, fragrant stems and they don’t seem to be slowing down! It’s been a daily task to keep up on the harvest. I am hoping they overwinter with some mulch as they are a perennial plant in warmer zones!! 🤞 I have them planted in between young peony plants at the moment and they should do fine there for a couple years until the peonies fill out the space more.
Wish you could smell this handful of chocolate cosmos, they are such a sweet chocolate scent! 🍫🤍
We have entered lisianthus season, which looking back at the last two years is always early/mid August for us despite planting at different weeks and different varieties in March. We always plant lisianthus prior to April 1st because they need a cold start to growing for the most successful stem length and blooms. Last year we had a not very good crop due to some fusarium wilt loss and also poor planting space (that dang bed on the south side of the house that nothing can seem to grow well in summer, it’s sooo hot!!). But this years crop is pretty glorious! 🙌
Planting location matters, we have different soil types due to our mix of inground and raised beds, and shady spots due to neighbors trees and structures, so we are constantly learning which spots on our property are best for which crops. The thing is, we don’t want to plant the same crop in the same bed every season, crop rotation is important for disease prevention, so finding that rotation of locations is key, which is a challenge when our bed space is so limited!! It’s a constant shuffle and experiment of what works best.
And we are messing it all up by changing our back beds this fall 😂 Mark has decided he wants to re-do the raised beds with better wood, so we are going to pull all of them and re-orient them and make them a bit more efficient/long-lasting and re-do all the irrigation (fun times!). We were thinking of just maybe skipping raised beds all together and turning the back into in-ground beds, but the back of our property has a TON of rocks (ask me how I know 😂). Like way more than the front for some reason, it’s very strange. It’s like someone that owned this property previously dumped rock and poured soil on top lol. So raised beds really is the best way to grow back there!
Fall will be very busy with that project + planting all the fall bulbs and perennials coming in October! So for now, I am just savoring the slower part of the season and enjoying the summer blooms!! 🌸
I mean 🤩✨
Lisianthus are the most romantic flower! What do you think?! ⬇️
Thank you all so much for coming to see us at the today!! It was great seeing you all and we appreciate your support of our locally grown blooms! We will return Sunday August 14 with more blooms including lisianthus and looks like probably the first dahlias of the season!! 🌸🎉💐
A new one we are trialing! I think it’s safe to say we’ll be planting more 🤩🤩🤩
Sometimes I have to forgo harvesting flowers in the early mornings because they will have sleeping bees tucked away inside the blooms 🥹🐝 this is very common to find on sunflowers, cosmos (particularly chocolate cosmos 🍫), and now roses! I will let them 🐝 and harvest after they have woken up and left. Sometimes the timing doesn’t work out, and I end up not being able to harvest the flowers before they blow open, but leaving another bed space for the bees in the garden is ok by me! 🌸🤍
The ruffly lovely lisianthus are almost here! ✨ It’s looking like a couple more weeks until they are ready for harvest! 🤩
We will have these available at in August!! 🌸 We’ll announce when they will be available to our email list, sign up if you are interested in learning more! Link in Profile.
This was all planted within the last 9 months! It’s going to be even more lush in the next few months ones the dahlias here pop up. Stay tuned!
Custom bouquet for a birthday! 🎉 We offer custom bouquets for porch pickup and loooove making these special ones for you!
beautiful zinnias are trickling in now, they are really lovely pastel shades and white large blooms to boot! Are you growing zinnias this year? ⬇️🌸
The ornamental grasses have arrived in full force! They add such a great texture in bouquets. Everyone’s favorite frosted explosion grass, and various millets! These come with a warning if you’d like to plant these in your gardens, they are quite invasive in the garden and spread everywhere. You will never not have them! I am trying to not let so many goto seed this year to get them under control a bit 😂
Can you believe this is one stem? Our fancy roses are growing along beautifully and we are so looking forward to being able to share them next year! Do you like garden roses? ⬇️
We’ll have summery bouquets with sunnies, white marigolds, fluffy scabiosa, everyone’s favorite frosted explosion grass! and lots more blooms tomorrow at with !! She has gorgeous early blooming lisianthus she is bringing!
Come early to beat the heat! Market starts at 8am, we’ll be in the shaded, tree-lined bakery loop!! 💐
Brb while I go order more echinacea 😂🌸 But seriously… these are amazing! Loving the juicy colors 💛🧡💜
After a couple weeks break, we are back at this Sunday’s with ! We’ll have lovely local blooms available! It will be a very warm day, so come early and beat the heat! Market starts at 8am Sunday July 21! 🌸☀️
We’ll have beautiful, creamy white marigolds in our market bouquets availabile at this weekend’s July 21! 💛
So thankful for the rain. It’s been, what, since May since it’s rained in Reno? Hope everyone enjoyed the rain!! 🌧️ Our flowers sure did!
Dara, or chocolate lace, is in the carrot family actually! She reseeds VERY well, too well even, so once you plant her, you will never not have her… everywhere. But it’s ok, because she is so lovely and adds the perfect airy texture to the garden and the vase! Pollinators also adore these blooms, which is always a big win when selecting flower varieties to plant 🐝✨
Just a few of the beautiful florist roses we have planted this spring, and more next spring! We are excited to offer locally grown stems of these very special varieties of roses in 2025 ✨🤍
Obsessed with fluffy focal scoops! 🤩🌸

The dahlias are on their way! Slowly but surely,… the heatwave has stalled them a bit, but they’ll be here in August 🙌 #dahlias #dahliaseason #locallygrown
Small-scale urban flower farming is using every square foot of your yard to grow flowers! We have transformed our front yard to include hundreds of perennials and annuals in our front yard. Who needs a lawn when you can have a garden? 🌸🐝🙌 Thanks so much for your support of @casablancaflowerfarm, Reno grown flowers 💐! #urbanflowerfarm #urbanfarm #renoflowers
They say patience will be rewarded, and that has never been more true than when growing biennial foxgloves! It takes a full year from starting biennial foxgloves seeds to when you finally will see blooms. But we think they are worth it! Especially this variety Cafe Crème 🤍 Do you grow any biennials? 👇 #foxglove #cafecreme #springflorals #cafecremefoxglove
It’s always disheartening to lose all or a large portion of your crop to pest damage! 😭 but that is the reality of growing flowers without the use of chemical pesticides. Sometimes the beneficial insects we release can’t keep up with the pest pressure when it’s so high, like this spring which the quick warming spell has caused an absolute explosion of them, and the weather isn’t quite the right conditions for the beneficials to thrive just yet. So a loss of blooms is basically inevitable! So no pretty purple ranunculus for spring sadly! 💜 #locallygrownflowers #IPM #pestmanagement #springblooms #ranunculus #realitiesoffarming
If not, highly recommend it! 🌸🫶 #eleganceranunculus #springblooms #flowers #barefootblooms #flowerfarm #urbanflowerfarm #locallygrown #localflower

Can’t wait to surround myself with the sweet scent of stock blooms 🌸✨ Only 1.5 weeks until Spring is officially here! 🙌 #AromaticBliss #Nature’sPerfume #StockFlower #Flowers #SpringFlowers
Behold the fancy daffodil🙌 🌼 Their multilayered and delicate petals of soft yellows, creams, and melon are the epitome of the subtle shift from winter snow to spring warmth. Oh! And not to mention their fragrance! Omgggg, it’s so so good. We are excited to share our fancy daffs with you all soon! They will be here next month at this rate! ☀️🌼 #FancyDaffodils #FloralMagic ✨
Soil blocking time! It feels so great to have this little greenhouse this season to use as a prop house to start our seeds! Love having this special space where I can be messy, creative, and stink up the room with the wool pellets soil blocking mix 😂 I’ll be be moving these trays of cold hardy spring seeds into our germination station (aka my guest bathroom) to germinate but they’ll be back out here to grown on nice and cool! 🌱 #seedstarting #greenhouse #renoflowers
What I am channeling for this year. The grind, chaos, hastiness, distracted, I am pushing away. What about you? 👇 #2024 #2024intentions
1000 tulips planted in about an hour, this is in addition to the 800 already planted. Lots of tulips for spring! #tulips #tulipplanting #renoflowers #fallbulbs
We removed a couple old railroad ties from this part of the front yard next to the sidewalk and it was the perfect depth for planting allium bulbs. No digging required for once! We have four varieties of allium planted here. Right now is the perfect time to plant bulbs in your garden! 🤍 #alliumbulbs #springflowers #fallbulbs #urbanflowerfarm #renoflowers #flowerfarm
Pre-sprouting of ranunculus. It’s not as fast as it looks! These little octopus type corms will stay in a dark cool room for a week or two until they started sprouting above the soil, at which point they will be moved under lights to grow on for another couple weeks before planting. Goal is to have all ranunculus planted by December 1! Are you growing ranunculus? 👇 #ranunculus #renoflowers #urbanflowerfarm
