Meet Trumpet!
This 4-year-old Hound Mix loves to snuggle, go on walks, and run around with his toys! He is a goofy boy with lots of love to give.
But behind his playful spirit, Trumpet has a heartbreaking story. 💔
He came to us after being found stray with multiple bullet wounds. We can’t begin to imagine what this poor boy went through, but we do know he deserves a chance to thrive and be loved!
Trumpet is looking for a calm, patient home where he can heal and blossom. He seems to enjoy other dogs, and the company of a canine companion may help him adjust and learn how to “dog.”. 💕
He does best with calm, consistent people, can meet teens 15+, and will need a fenced yard to explore safely as he builds trust and confidence.
If you’re ready to give a sweet, resilient boy the love he deserves, come meet Trumpet today! He’s waiting for YOU at 4950 Spectrum Blvd, open every day between noon and 6pm. ❤️

Meet Taz!
Meet Taz, our #PetOfTheWeek with @kolo8morningbreak! 🐶
Taz is currently in foster care and has been flourishing in a home environment! He is very social and loves making new friends with dogs, cats, and people.🥰
He is very affectionate, and loves to give kisses and snuggling up on the couch. He also loves playing fetch, tug, going on walks, and will sit pretty for a treat.
Taz was adopted from us as a puppy but was returned 5 years later because kids can be a little too loud and scary for him. Because of this, Taz needs to go to a home with teens 15+ (including visitors).
Want to meet Taz? Send us a DM or call the Adoption Center at 775-324-7773 to set up an appointment with the foster to meet him!
A Tale of Resiliency and Love
When Edward was surrendered to us, he was a shadow of himself. His fur was matted, foxtails were burrowed into his skin, both eyes were infected, and he was suffering from an untreated chronic illness. Perhaps the most noticeable thing was how happy and loving he was, despite what he had endured.
Our veterinary team sprang into action, providing him the round-the-clock care he desperately needed. We shaved his tangled coat, removed the painful foxtails from his skin, and surgically removed one eye. We also started him on medication for his chronic illness.
Despite his condition, Edward still loved and trusted every human he met. He would melt into people’s laps and was a big fan of scratches behind the ear. He was the type of dog who was content to lay at your feet, happy to be near someone he loved.
After surgery, we monitored Edward’s recovery and response to medication. In just a short week we noticed a significant difference. His eye was healing beautifully, his fur was growing back, and his energy had returned thanks to his new medication plan. His spirit began to shine!
We understood it could take some time to find a family willing to give him the long-term care he needed for his chronic condition. But we knew whoever adopted this sweet boy was in for a lifetime of devotion and laughter.
In September, a loving couple came in to meet Edward. The moment he bound into their arms during their meet and greet, we all knew he was going home. Though heartbroken by his backstory, they were excited to give him the love and care he truly deserved.
Today, Edward is a happy, energetic ball of fluff, enjoying sunset strolls, playing with his many toys, lying on the back deck in the sun, and cuddling up on the couch with his new family.
Your support makes stories like Edward’s possible. We need your continued financial gifts to help pets like him—pets who come to us in need of medical care and a loving home.

Autumn recently got a much-needed vacation from the adoption center and spent a night in a foster home. The four-year-old boxer mix been feeling down and cooped up lately, so this was the perfect chance for her to relax and let her personality shine—and she absolutely loved it! 💕

When 5-pound Tinkerbell was surrendered to Fairgrounds Animal Hospital with a broken front leg, they knew she needed extra support from a trusted partner. They called SPCA-NN, asking if we could take in this resilient chihuahua with a bright spirit. We couldn’t say no!
Tinkerbell arrived with a large leg cast and an even bigger heart. She trembled in fear but quickly grew to trust us. Despite the heavy cast, she would hop from person to person for pets and snuggles.
X-rays showed her leg was too badly broken to heal properly, so amputation was her best chance at a swift recovery. We placed Tinkerbell with one of our incredible fosters, where she received loving care before and after surgery. The calm home environment brought out even more of her spunky and affectionate personality. She loved being close to her foster mom, often burrowing into blankets or chasing her toy before snuggling up for a nap.
On surgery day, our team reassured a nervous Tinkerbell that she was in good hands. Her amputation and spay surgery went smoothly thanks to our skilled vet team. The very next day, she was confidently prancing on three legs, ready for her next chapter.
We shared Tinkerbell’s story on social media, catching the eye and heart of Frederika, who had recently lost her two 17-year-old chihuahuas. The moment they met, it was clear Tink had found her loving home.
Today, Tinkerbell is loving life with her new family. Frederika says she’s a joy—snuggling, fetching toys, and playing with the neighbor's dog. Tink truly is the sparkle in her family’s eyes.
Your support makes stories like Tinkerbell’s possible. We need your continued financial gifts to help pets like her—pets who need medical care, fostering, and extra time to find a loving home.
NOW through December 3, your donation will be MATCHED dollar-for-dollar. Give today at www.spcanevada.org/donate or via the link in our bio. 💜
In August, we received an urgent call from Washoe County Regional Animal Services (WCRAS) about two stray kittens with ringworm. Lacking the resources to treat this highly contagious infection, WCRAS turned to us for help.
Our team quickly brought the scared sisters, Cali and Palm, into our care. Dressed in full protective gear, we whisked them to our Ringworm Academy, where a medical exam revealed their little bodies covered in ringworm lesions.
Ringworm is treatable but requires a strict 21-day program of isolation, lime-sulfur sprays, medication, and PCR tests. Unfortunately, most shelters across the western U.S. lack the resources to treat it, leaving infected pets at high risk for euthanasia.
Thanks to YOUR generous gifts, SPCA-NN provides a safe haven for cats like Cali and Palm, offering them gentle care and a chance to heal. Our compassionate team transforms “spray spa days” into trust-building experiences, helping these frightened kittens relax and grow confident.
After six weeks, Cali’s infection cleared. She was transformed from a scared, sick stray to a healthy kitten ready to find a loving home! But Palm’s infection was persistent and she needed more time to heal. The bonded sisters were separated.
It wasn’t long before Cali received an amazing graduation present… a family. Ashley and her young son came into the Adoption Center, mourning their beloved 14-year-old cat, Tigger. After meeting Cali and hearing her story, they were eager to bring her home.
When we mentioned that Palm was also graduating soon, her eyes twinkled.
Cali has since made herself at home with her family playing with her toys, napping on her cat tree, and snuggling every chance she gets. The best part? They also recently welcomed Palm into the family, reuniting the bonded siblings!
Thanks to YOU, we’ve been able to cure 48 cats and kittens of ringworm so far this year!
