Introducing Kobe, a very young intact male, surrendered to the Mariposa County Shelter, one day after he was bought off of Craig’s List. The new owner said that Kobe bit him while he was wrestling with Kobe, and he didn’t want to keep him. Skin was broken, so Kobe was put into mandatory quarantine, as there was no proof of a rabies vaccination. The MCS staff thought something was amiss with the story and the owner, as Kobe seemed very sweet during the days of his quarantine. MCS is a high kill shelter, without a neutering clinic, so he could not be directly rehomed, therefore he’d be euthanized. Thankfully, MCS staff reached out to an all breed rescue called Friends of the Animal Community in Sonora, that brought him to safety and contacted us. We will be picking him up this week, bringing him up to date with all vaccinations and getting him neutered. Given that we have yet to assess him (but are told that he is “a sweetheart” and wags his tail at other dogs) we are hopeful that he will thrive with an experienced Shiba owner. His ideal home will not have young children and if there is another dog, it should be a female. If you are interested in meeting or fostering this cutie, please send us a PM.
