Did you even know there 🐾 was 🐾 a "National Train Your Dog Month"?

Don't worry, we won't blame you if you didn't know about it, because this month we are here to tell you ALL about it! We will be sharing weekly tips, knowledge, and challenges that will push you to test your training and your understanding of training!

This week, we are talking about something our dogs love: Real Life Rewards

These are rewards that are natural desires your individual dog may have. They can include things like:
🐾 Greeting a person or a dog
🐾 Sniffing something
🐾 Sprinting or running

We are challenging you to find, and use, some real-life rewards with your dog. Share your stories, videos, and photos in the comments and let us know what you learned!

Karen Pryor died yesterday at the age of 92. She is the person we have to thank for the modern positive reinforcement training movement. In a world where the family dog was trained using intimidation, choking, yelling, and throwing things, Karen Pryor - a woman, small in stature and leading with kindness - pioneered another way, adapted from her experience as a marine mammal trainer. Somewhere, I have a picture of Baby Trainer Joanna grinning stupidly next to her at an early conference, but I can't find it.

RIP Karen. Thank you for showing us all how it's done.
