Looking for a loving home for this puppy. My family rescued her, her mom, and two other siblings from a person that was keeping them outside 24/7 in this freezing weather. They allowed us to take them off their hands and now we are tying to find them homes. We were told the puppies are 18 weeks old. They are vaccinated and we are going to have them spayed as well. Last picture is mom and other two puppies (those puppies have already found homes with friends of ours).

Please message me if you’re interested in her. We were told that she’s Cattle dog, Pointer, & Bulldog mix. She definitely has bulldog or boxer in her because she has an underbite.

-Crate trained (sleeps through the night)
-Almost potty trained
-Knows sit and her name (we named her Scarlett)
-Friendly with other dogs
-Good with kids (we have a 2 month old)
-No food or toy aggression that we’ve noticed
-LOVES people

Don’t wait until there’s a problem.

The average dog owner doesn’t think their dog needs training until an incident (or several) occurs. Often times this sends dog owners into a panic and they start calling every dog trainer in town.

The problem with this is that many dog trainers (at least the good ones) are booked out. Some of us are even booked out months in advance.

In most cases the dog has been exhibiting bad behaviors for years which unfortunately means that they need more extensive training than if they would’ve just come to us right away.

Creating healthy habits immediately after getting your dog will save you money, time, and lots of stressful situations.

Lately we’ve had several people contact us for training before they even pick up their puppy from the breeder’s or adopt their dog from the shelter. Being proactive is so helpful and we love to see it! 💕

Can your dog trust you?

Can your dog trust that you will advocate for them by not allowing a child to climb all over them?

Can your dog look to you for help when they’re nervous in a new situation?

Can your dog trust that you will do everything in your power to stop an off-leash dog from rushing them?

Can your dog trust that you aren’t going to punish them because “they know better” when in reality, you haven’t even taught them what’s expected?

If your answer is “no” to any of the above, hiring a dog trainer isn’t going to fix your dog.

Your relationship and how your dog views you far outweighs any training program.

Board & Trains are not quick fixes. In fact, we turn away more potential clients than we accept.

We only work with clients that are truly dedicated to bettering their dog’s lives. This includes the client learning to become the best owner for their dog.

We can’t convince your dog that you’ve changed and that they can trust you. That’s your job.

Most bad behaviors stem from a lack of fulfillment. Notice I didn’t say freedom. Giving your dog full freedom to do whatever it pleases in your house and yard is only going to cause more issues.

There are MANY ways to fulfill your dog. Leaving them to their own devices is not one of them.

Having your dog ride in a crate in the car can save their life.

Allowing your dog to pace back and forth and constantly stick their head out the window is not only annoying but extremely dangerous.

Dogs often fall out of car windows and get serious injured or killed.

The same can happen if a car accident breaks one of the windows. Now you have to worry about your dog being too spooked to come back to you or get hit by another car on the road.

We recommend using a heavy duty plastic kennel in the car. Our favorite is .

Might get some hate for this one but here goes nothing…

We do not recommend EVER leaving power breeds home alone together.

I can’t even begin to count how many horror stories I’ve heard about people coming home to seriously injured or dead dogs.

I don’t care if your dogs are best friends, if their genetic make-up includes breeding for animal aggression, they should never be trusted alone together.

Don’t even come at me saying that “it’s all about how you raise them”. If that’s what you truly believe, you’ve just gotten lucky with dogs that were easy.

Most people have never witnessed a real dog fight and trust me when I say you don’t want to!

Happy 5th Birthday Tuxedo! You have changed my life in so many ways. Forever thankful that I agreed to adopt you even after hearing your laundry list of issues.

I’m so incredibly proud of how far you’ve come in such a short period of time. You genuinely didn’t enjoy being in the presence of other dogs and now you are able to be one of my helper dogs.

Fight mode used to be your go to and now you choose to flight in situations that you feel uncomfortable in. Teaching you that your choices matter has allowed you to live a normal life.

You have taught me SO much about dogs, dog training, and life in general. Thank you 🖤

Peter Parker & Tony Stark.

Littermate syndrome is a term that often gets overlooked by dog owners because they have a desire to buy or adopt two puppies from the same litter.

One of the biggest problems with this is that you’re risking that your relationship with the dogs will not be more fulfilling than their relationship with each other.

This is why we never recommend getting littermates. However, if you already fell into that trap, there are some things you can do to increase your chances at being successful.

-Make sure the dog’s have a strong name recognition so they understand who you’re directing commands at.
-Separate them often! This is crucial in order for you to form individual bonds with each of them. Instead of always taking both out for walks together, take one in the morning and the other in the evening.
-Play with them individually as well. If their only source of play is coming from each other, you will never be more valuable in their eyes.
-Kennel them separately. Hopefully this is a DUH but you’d be surprised how many people crate their dogs together. Think of it as a bedroom, you wouldn’t want to share a bedroom with your sibling for the rest of your life so don’t make your littermates!
-Hand feed them as many meals as possible. Show them that food doesn’t magically appear in a bowl. They must earn it through working. Sounds harsh but it will absolutely strengthen your relationship.

Hopefully these quick tips are helpful. These can also be used for multiple dog households.

Officially introducing Ruby!

She is here for our Stay & Train program to work on advanced & off-leash obedience.

Ruby has already been through a balanced training program and has become collar smart. Her owner mentioned that she will only listen when she has the e-collar on.

Her first week here was focused on rebuilding her foundation and increasing her motivation and commitment to behaviors.

During the rest of her stay our main focus will be on generalizing her training in new environments. She struggles with getting easily distracted which often leads to her no long being food motivated.

Becoming the most important/exciting thing in Ruby’s life has been a challenge but we’re starting to see some progress.

Stay tuned!

Tomorrow is going to be the hardest day of my life to date.

Lola has been in my life since I was 12 years old. She has seen me at my worst and has been my rock through it all.

I’ve been involved in rescue for my whole life and have had to say goodbye to many dogs. This one is just different. Nothing compares to her. She is my why and the reason that I have helped so many dogs over the years.

She has quite literally saved my life on multiple occasions.

I’m scared to see a world without her in it.

I saved her from death row 14 years ago but to be honest, she’s the one that saved me.

I can’t thank her enough for everything that she has taught me.

She will forever be the dog that I will never be able to replace, nor will I want to.

I love you my sweet girl. Please pass easy tomorrow ❤️

George, the mini Bernadoodle, is just the sweetest soul you’ll ever meet.

He doesn’t have any behavioral issues and is totally social with people & other dogs.

During his stay we are focusing on creating a solid on & off leash obedience foundation, working on basic manners, and building his confidence.

We found out that George is nervous of random things such as: tumbleweeds. 😅. He is most likely going through a puppy fear stage so we are helping him through that with lots of positive reinforcement.

Overall he is a very well mannered, easy dog. Nice change of pace for us 😉.

Stay tuned for pupdates!

Officially introducing this handsome hunk.

This is Godzilla (Zilla for short). He is a 110 pound Alaskan Malamute.

He is here to focus on:
-On & off leash obedience.
-Real world exposure.
-Leash Manners.
-Handling & Grooming.
-Social Skills.

Zilla doesn’t allow his owner to bathe or brush him. Therefore, he has some pretty gnarly mats that we’ve been diligently working on. (Stay tuned for a grooming video!).

Zilla is very pushy with other dogs and has an inappropriate play style. We have been focusing on a lot of co-existence around other dogs to lessen his excitement level around them. Once he is further along in the program, we will include him into social groups.

On top of that, Zilla gets really bad anxiety in the car to the point where he will 💩. Due to this, he hasn’t been on any big outings with us yet. We are taking him on small, close to home, outings to work him up to a bigger trip.

Stay tuned for pupdates!

Someone said to me the other day “wow, you really care about these dogs”.

Yes, yes I do.

This person has worked at other local dog training companies and has seen how their board & trains were treated.

Over the last couple years a good percentage of our training dogs have already been through another board & train. Many of them have been through suppression based training and are absolutely terrified of the e-collar, prong collar, or both.

We have seen dogs completely shut down from being forced onto a treadmill with no introduction to how to remove leash pressure. We’ve seen dogs pancake to the floor from just the sight of an e-collar remote. We’ve even seen dogs that became so terrified of the trainer during the board & train that they started attacking their owners. We’ve seen dogs release their bowels and quiver in the back of their crate just from someone opening the crate door.

I’m not one to usually post on here about this kind of stuff but I’m absolutely disgusted with how many “dog trainers” are actually abusing dogs behind closed doors.

Please, if you love your dog, make sure you are researching every inch of the business that you are going to be sending them to.

Look closely at the pictures & videos that these companies post.
- Are the dogs panting because they’re happy or stressed?
- Are the dogs having fun and getting rewarded during training sessions?
- Is an E-collar slapped on the dogs day one with no introduction on how to remove pressure?

Pay attention & take a deeper look before hiring a dog trainer.

Introducing Otto! Finally got a decent photo of this little wiggle worm. Thank you .

Otto is a 6 month old Dalmatian/Lab/Collie/Border Collie/German Shepherd mix.

While he is with us we are focusing on building a solid on & off-leash obedience foundation, getting him better with handling & grooming, teaching him an off-switch, as well as working on some general manners.

Otto is already half way through is program and is doing great so far!

Everyone welcome Cooky! She is a 10 month old Belgian Malinois.

Cooky is a pet dog so our goals are to give her a solid on & off leash obedience foundation as well as give her some breed specific outlets.

She doesn’t have a fenced in yard and likes to run into the road to greet every dog that is walked by. 😬

Over the last few days that she has been here we’ve noticed that she is very sweet but also sensitive. She gets easily distracted and loses food motivation during training sessions. To help her through this we are doing multiple brief sessions per day with her. We have also eliminated her eating out of a bowl to encourage more food motivation.

Stay tuned for pupdates!

Kiba is a 1 year old American Bully. He’s here for our 6 week Rehab Retreat program.

Unfortunately he was attacked by a husky that got loose and now struggles with some minor reactivity. Prior to the attack, he played with other dogs but had a very pushy play style.

He is visibly uncomfortable around some of the other dogs we have here. Our goal is to put his mind at ease by advocating for him.

On top of that, Kiba struggles with meeting new people. He is quite reserved and takes some time to warm up. He has never tried to bite anyone but his owner is concerned that he will if pushed to that point.

He will be exposed to a lot of new people during his stay with us without the pressure of a forced interaction.

He seems conflicted due to his genetic makeup: Mom was overly possessive/protective and has a bite record. Dad was completely social.

This is a pivotal point in his life and we can’t wait to help him transform into the best version of himself.

Stay tuned for pupdates! 🤍.

I got Lola when I was just 12 years old. I rescued her from death row at our local pound. I still have her even though she was 3 years old and wasn’t potty trained. My stepmom was terrified of Pit Bulls but I still kept her. I grew up in two different houses but I still kept her. She got attacked by another dog and became severely dog aggressive but I still kept her. My dog training mentor told be to euthanize her but I still fought for her. She tried to kill a couple dogs but I still had hope for her. She couldn’t be a “normal” dog and go to daycare or dog parks but I still fulfilled her in other ways. I went through mentally & physically abusive relationships but I still kept her. I got another dog that she didn’t like but I made it work and now they love each other. I have moved and traveled but I still kept her.

14 years later and I still have her because she is everything to me. She has been my rock over the years and now I’m hers.
She now has bone cancer and I will be by her side until she closes her eyes for the last time.

I have no sympathy for people that throw dogs away like they are objects. I understand that certain dogs do need to be rehomed but it’s disgusting how many people are getting rid of their family members for bu****it reasons.

If you can’t love the most selfless animal on this planet, I don’t have any sympathy for you.
