Training is supposed to build dogs up, not break them down.
E-collars should be used as a communication tool. An invisible leash is how we describe it. Most of how we use a leash is with very light pressure to communicate which direction we want the dog to go. Therefore, we teach and utilize the E-collar in the same method.
It makes me sick to my stomach when I see trainers trying to normalize dogs hating training and looking mopey but saying their just “calm” and “it’s ok if your dog doesn’t like to train”.
Training shouldn’t be a chore, it should be something fun for the owner and dog.

I understand that there are VERY FEW circumstances where it’s best for the dog to be rehomed, however the majority of these cases can be helped with education and training.
Sending your dog to the shelter does NOT guarantee that they will find a new home. 🚨No kill shelters still euthanize for behavioral and medical reasons. They are only allowed to kill a certain percentage to be considered no kill. 🚨 This means that if your dog has a serious behavioral or medical issue, they will likely never even make it on the adoption floor. When I volunteered for a local shelter, I personally witnessed several dogs get euthanized in the INTAKE ROOM moments after their owner(s) surrendered them.
WAKE UP PEOPLE.
For those of you that don’t already know, my mom is fostering these puppies until they are old enough to be adopted out.
She is starting to separate them by putting them in their own individual crates. This process is going to be a slow one that starts out with just 10-15 minutes in their crates and building from there.
They’re only 6-7 weeks old (we’re guessing) right now so getting them comfortable in a crate this early is going to help them succeed later in life when they’re adopted.
@thewoofpacknc recently fostered a bunch of puppies and she has been giving us advice. If you don’t already follow her, you should!
