Feline Friends of Sammamish

Feline Friends of Sammamish Find us in the Renton Highlands down May Valley Road. We're passionate about cats; finding better homes for cats in need....no cat left behind!

Reservations form https://felinefriendsofsammamish.org/visit-the-kitties-at-the-purr-boxx-studio-in-renton/ In early 2019, a group of volunteers were donating their time to the Purrfect Pals adoption center in a local Petco. Our group and efforts grew and later in that same year we became Feline Friends of Sammamish, an official 501c3 non-profit organization. We now have over 40 volunteers, over 1

5 foster families and are continuing to grow! In January 2022, we opened a cat adoption lounge in Renton, located on the Sammamish Animal Sanctuary property. We pride ourselves on the lounge's home-like setting. Our cats aren't caged here; they have the freedom and room to play. Windowsills offer birdwatching opportunities; while sofas, cushions and cat towers offer plenty of places to snooze peacefully. Our rescue cats come from all walks of life. During the year, we make trips to Idaho shelters that we partner with (many of which are kill shelters) and bring back an average of 30 cats per trip, who would otherwise be euthanized. Although the van we use has limited capacity, volunteers have been known to pick up a stray cat on the way home! In addition to abandoned or stray cats, we also take in cats from local families needing to re-home their pet. All cats who come to us get a visit from our volunteer vet as well as whatever flea, deworming medications or shots they need. We never refuse a cat who's in less than perfect health. Instead, we do whatever is necessary to get them the care they need to get well ensuring that their new families won't be burdened with unexpected vet bills. Since October of 2019 we have rescued more than 250 cats! We are determined to leave no cat behind! Would you like to help? We are always looking for more people who are willing to foster our cats while we are looking for their forever home. There are volunteer opportunities to take a shift at the cat lounge; you would help with the feeding, scooping the cat boxes and cleaning. Of course, loving on the cats and playing with them while you are there is also very important! Transportation from the cat lounge to vet appointments and back is also an important need. If you would rather donate money than time, that is always very much appreciated! For more information please email: [email protected]

Is it this way to the reindeer tryouts? Tell Santa I’m ready!

Foster kitten Clyde is the first to don this winter apparel for the holiday. Do you think Santa will give him a chance to guide his sleigh?

Even during the holidays, homeless pets need care and support. If you have ever considered fostering or adopting cats or kittens, we will help make a match happen for you! We also welcome donations to our nonprofit organization.

**Animals should never be given as surprise gifts to individuals who are unprepared or unable to provide proper care.**

Balls are for trees! 🎄

1. Neutered cats live longer, healthier lives, and are far less likely to fight other cats. FIV, FeLV, and other diseases are spread by cat bites sustained while fighting.

2. Neutered cats are less likely to spray. Smelly tomcat urine damages property and causes problems with neighbors and landlords.

3. Neutered cats are less likely to be trapped, dumped, or taken to a shelter. Being neutered advertises that someone cares and that they won’t be reproducing.

4. Neutered cats fight less often and less aggressively. This saves money on veterinary bills to treat abscesses and wounds.

5. Neutered cats stay closer to home. They are less likely to get lost, killed by predators, or hit by vehicles while roaming and searching for mates.

Her injuries were just too severe. We spent all day trying to figure out how to help her... Rest in peace little one. May our compassion in the end make up for how you were treated before we knew you.

Why… there are many possibilities but we don’t know what happened . First Mr Tuxedo cat we named Lucky for being dropped off at our rescue for a second chance. We have stayed a bit hidden off the main road, nestled closely to Sammamish Animal Sanctuary that drop offs rarely happen but this was the first unattended drop.

The next day a SAS volunteer found these three on the side of the road near Tiger Mountain in Issaquah. One of the kittens was by severely injured with multiple broken bones - possibly an animal attack, crush injury or hit by a car. Included are the X-rays from the urgent care we were able to get her into this morning. To be continued…
