Sammamish Animal Sanctuary is the home of the animals from the Rescue Series Books, written by Diane Odegard Gockel.

Sammamish Animal Sanctuary is a 501c3 non-profit in Renton, Washington, that provides forever homes for abused, neglected, unwanted, and/or homeless barnyard animals. Their eyes tell the story. ♥️ The last few days of the year always have us looking back- at the friends and loved ones we've gained- and lost. It's no different here at SAS. What a magical place for our Animals- they are safe, loved and reminded every day that they are HOME.

It's all thanks to you and your support. Rather it's volunteering your time, or donating funds to help provide the very important needs of shelter, food and continuous medical care- we are so grateful to all of you.

Hey! Hello! Hi! We wanted to show you what a beautiful day Christmas Eve has been here at the Sanctuary. Abby decided to photo bomb and say "hello"- so not quite the panoramic photo we had in mind. 😂

Friendly reminder we are closed tomorrow to the public- but excited to spend Christmas spoiling our animals with our amazing Volunteers!! ♥️🎄

Winter Is Coming...

In less than a week, actually! And our incredible Volunteers are braving the muck to spread wood chips in our pens and fields to help keep the wet away from our Sanctuary Animals pampered hooves! Need a work out? Your activity tracker will LOVE you if you volunteer with us!

❄️Freezing temps are here which means bunnies have gone south for winter!❄️ Aka: no longer in the bunny garden outside, instead they are snuggled up in a stall. Still ready to welcome visitors! Just in a different place through these chilly days hehe ⛄️.

🎄Rocky needs a home!!🎄 Our 3 girl chinchillas have been adopted so Rocky is all alone and the last chinchilla left!! 😳 Help us spread the word that this cutie needs a home!! 🙏🏻Please do research on chinchilla care and behaviors as they are not a beginner pet by any means. With lots of love, patience, and time, these exotic pets can become a treasured family member for many years to come 🩷. Dove Rescue Story!

🕊️A happy ending for a very sweet Daisy Dove🕊️ In addition to operating a farm animal sanctuary, our founder & owner Diane finds herself rescuing all sorts of sweet souls during her days spent off-site. 🌸Special thanks to Daisy’s new home and everyone helping us with advice along the way. Let’s all wish Daisy a happy new life!! 💖

Infinitely Able Pets really worked a miracle for our baby sweet Amelia! 🐮 💕 They made the most beautiful prosthetic for her and we can’t thank them enough!! We opened it up for the first time today and it fit her like a glove. Amelia was born with a birth defect of one leg shorter than the rest. Having a prosthetic has already added years to her life expectancy. Shes partially blind as well, so we are very lucky she is such a sweet girl and trusts us to take the prosthetic off and on. Thank you to our generous donors for helping fund the prosthetic. We are feeling very grateful today!! Yayy Amelia!! 🤩
