30 days does not mean 30 rides.

Generally in my experience people tend to send their horses to training and expect 30 days to mean 30 rides or at least over half the month they are at the trainers they should be riding. Truly with a good trainer you are looking at needing to leave your horse for 60 days and while I do encourage that for all my clients most will not do that.

It takes a good solid foundation on the ground to maintain a good solid foundation in the saddle. It isn't realistic to expect 30 rides in 30 days. Here 30 days means 30 days of solid work whether that be rides or ground work. Your horse will be worked for 30 days. Any days that I just cannot ride or the weather messes us up, you will be given those days at the end of your month so I can make sure you have your full 30 days.

If you want your horse to have 30 rides anywhere at any trainer you should expect to have your horse at a trainers for no less than 60 days. You cannot force a horse to move quicker than they want to or can handle. That just creates a illy mannered horse with holes in its training.

So I will say it again as it is and will always be my policy for my training program. 30 days does not equal 30 rides.

She was a little sassy for her first lope. But her progress is great. Getting a nice stop when asked and going into her gates somewhat smoothly.

We really try to build a solid foundation so our training horses feel confident enough to lope with out blow up or accident. But sometimes they can still be a little sassy. As smart as this mare is she'll be loping circles by the end of the week and ready to go home.

So my program consists of letting the horse lead. Meaning that usually the first few rides aren't very long at all. When you actually listen to a horse and know how to handle them. Their attention spans really aren't that great. Some you can get 10 minutes some you can get an hour.

To avoid blow ups in the first few rides or ever(we really strive to not have any blow up undersaddle.) My rides are short and sweet. I focus on one thing and once that one thing is achieved we are done.

So when people ask "well what did you do on 30 days" and don't believe their horse is as far along as they think they should be. It's really off putting as a trainer because we dedicate our time to make sure the horse is solid happy and safe. We don't rush push or make them blow up.

It's important to listen to the horse because they can tell you so much in such a short session.

Even the young ones need to go through things. And in our program you can expect trail riding like this that they work through so your horse understands and does not blow up.

Got some ponies worked today even with the wind today!

Dakota is learning to be soft and Matt is my free spot horse for 30 days. He is a 10 year old halter broke arabian gelding. Very sweet and willing, his ground work is becoming more consistent and hes becoming easier to catch now.

Round pen is officially up. 6 foot high and 50 feet. Room to have a nice lope in there!

What can you expect in 30 days with your horse in our training program?

*untouched*
In 30 days we can guarantee them being halter broke and have 30 days of ground work and possible saddle working time. Depending on the horse typically our untouched horses do not have rides by the time 30 days comes to an end. Thats why we recommend 60 days.

*Handled but needing manners and groundwork.*
We can guarantee being completely halter broke and a good groundwork foundation with saddle work and possible rides before the end of the 30 days. It all depends on how fast your horse wants to accept training.

*Tune ups*
We will fix any holes on the ground before we enter the saddle. Most horses with issues in the saddle it stems from no respect on the ground with a unfinished proper foundation on the ground. Once we run through the basics we estimate as long as the horse is progressing nicely. Around 15 to 20 rides.

*finishing*
We will again run them through ground work basics. This is our firm policy, no horsr is ridden here with out figuring them out on the ground first. Once ground work is accomplished. We can maintain good rides 5/6 days a week and will usually get almost 20/25 days or more of riding. By the time your horse goes home itll understand all the finishing basics.

*barrel training.*
We recommended 90 days. Your horse must have basics of finishing down very well before being thrown on the pattern. I do not take unbroke horses and put them on the pattern. It doesnt benefit the horse at all to push them to the point of blowing their minds while training.

Perfect day to get out and lunge some horses.

I keep my lunging sessions short unless I have a large round pen to work them in(it's in the works at the ranch). It's not natural for horses to be in tight circles or go in circles at all. Keeping lunging sessions short and sweet keeps their joints in good shape. No legs no horse 🤷‍♀️.
