11 quarts of grape juice done up today. All jars sealed! Here in about 4 weeks we can start drinking them. I have a ton more grapes on the vine. Need a nice day I can finish harvesting them.

Chris' coworker sent him home with a bunch of sliced cucumbers. I went ahead and turned them into pickles. A quick, easy refrigerator type that should be ready to eat by tomorrow. They'll be good for up to 2 months in the fridge. I don't think they're going to last that long.

The Sykesville fair has drawn to an end and I was able to bring everything home with me. What an amazing experience. I now have two 1st place items of my own making under my belt and it is a fantastic feeling. Though my tablerunner may not have placed, it's still a beautiful piece and I'm proud of everything I entered.

I did something, a first for me. I took a chance this year, with a gentle push from Chris. I entered some of my crafts into a local fair this year. I was tentatively hoping to place with at least one item, even if I got 5th. I turned in a basket, a set of placemats, and a table runner and left them to the judges capable hands.
I am blown away! One of my entries earned a participation and two got 1st place, one of which took home best of show. I am honored and blessed. ☺️

The second part of "Muddled Seaglass' is complete. I work top and bottom of my weaving projects to then meet and finish in the middle. It makes for a cleaner, more uniformed finish.

Due to being over pruned year before last, we lost one grape vine and the surviving one never produced last year. Chris and I had come to an agreement in the early spring that if the remaining vine went a second year without signs of producing a crop, that we'd pull it out. Well, it must've heard us because every inch of our grape vine is covered with baby cluster of grapes! Can't wait for harvest season for these sweet bundles of concords.

I've been working on growing my strawberry patch for years. This is the first time since I've planted them (roughly 4 years) that I've gotten a nice crop.

Last year I grew more jalapeños than I actually knew what to do with. I harvested them, washed and diced them, then stuffed them in the freezer where they were promptly forgotten about. I finally pulled them out and dehydrated them into a powder to use with our cooking and seasoning.
It's delicious and a little goes a very long way.

Chris and I would like to apologize for the silence on this page the last several months. Our focus was set on something else.
On May 18th, 2024, a new chapter has started here at Mountain Maple Farm. Chris and I got married!

Woke up feeling like death warmed over. Time for some elderberry syrup.

2.5 cups of fresh elberberries (dried can be used but cut measurement in half)
4 cups filtered water
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground clove

Bring all above ingredients to a boil and then lower heat to medium to let simmer for 30 minutes or until liquid is redouced by half. Afterwards, remove from heat and let seep for 5 to 10 minutes. Strain the mixture, removing spent berries, and add to 1 cup of local honey. Mix well until honey is dissolved. Store in glass jar/bottle in the refrigerator for up to 6 months.

Take 2 tsp once daily as a preventative or 2 tsp four times daily to help alleviate cold/flu symptoms.

I finished the 'Gather for the Harvest' placemats.
I've been asked by several if i was able to make this a 4 peice set but unfortunately, repurposed fabric doesn't always give enough for more than 2. That being said, it's still a beautiful set and as I like to say with my placemats, they're sisters, not twins.

I'm selling 'Gather for the Harvest' for $30 plus shipping.

I've also decided that I would like to take commissions for my weaving. I can weave large rugs, hallway runners, table runners, placemats, and larger trivets.

Attempting to mend holes in clothing with a technique called darning. This is my first time trying this and so the mends themselves may be wonky but I've patched two holes and have given these shirts an extended life when once they were at risk in being tossed out or the holes getting worse.
The kit I bought came work 50 prices of embroidery thread and none in the color I needed for both shirts. I did the best I could with what I had.

I'm calling it, Dance of the Butterflies. They were supposed to be flowers which if course didn't work out. And since I also have no artist talent when it comes to drawing, I couldn't make them fairies. So, butterflies it is.
I'm actually really proud of this one. I think they're adorable.

Two of the three books I got in. I'm waiting for the 3rd watercoloring book to come in. All are similar in set up - follow the directions to the best of your ability and paint the drawing - and I'm not 100% sure I'm capable of handling them or actually doing them but it's worth a try. And I'm excited about it. Samantha this is what I used my birthday gift card on finally.
