🇺🇸 Happy 4th of July from all of us at Rialto Animal Hospital! 🎆🐾
As we enjoy fireworks, food, and festivities, it’s important to keep our pets’ safety and comfort in mind. Here’s how to help your furry companions have a stress-free holiday:
🔥 BBQ & Picnic Safety
While it’s tempting to share the celebration with your pets, many common 4th of July foods can be dangerous:
• Avoid giving bones, fatty meats, corn cobs, chocolate, grapes/raisins, and anything containing onions or garlic
• Keep pets away from hot grills and food prep areas
• Dispose of skewers and leftover scraps promptly
🎇 Fireworks Anxiety
Loud booms and flashes can trigger severe stress in pets. To help ease anxiety:
• Keep pets indoors in a quiet, secure room
• Use calming music, TV, or white noise
• Consider vet-approved calming aids or anxiety wraps
• Never take pets to fireworks shows
🏷️ Preventing Lost Pets
Did you know more pets go missing on the 4th of July than any other day of the year?
• Ensure collars and ID tags are secure and accurate
• Double check that your pet’s microchip info is up to date
• Take a current photo of your pet in case they get lost
• Keep doors and gates securely closed
🧹 Yard Safety After the Festivities
The morning after, take time to clean up your outdoor space:
• Remove firework debris, food wrappers, and glow sticks
• Check for broken decorations or sharp objects
• Make sure your yard is safe before letting pets roam
🎆 Enjoy the holiday, and keep it safe for all members of your family — furry ones included!
From all of us at Rialto Animal Hospital, we wish you a joyful and safe Independence Day! ❤️🐶🐱
