This isn’t an easy post to make — but it’s the truth.
In the last 30 days alone, Little Red Barn Dog Rescue has paid out just shy of $25,000 in medical bills — and that’s just vet costs. (Our current vetting accounts are now at $0, but we know that wont last beyond today.)
That doesn’t include food, cleaning supplies, flea and tick prevention, microchips, in house vaccinations, food deliveries to keep pets with their families, or the countless other things it takes to care for the dogs who come through our doors.
Behind every one of those bills is a story — a broken body, a terrified face, a dog who didn’t ask for any of this.
We’ve seen everything lately… PARVO, gunshot wounds, starvation, neglect, hoarding situations, police confiscations, cries for help from every kind of heartbreak you can imagine.
While we fight for them, our volunteers and caregivers are breaking too.
We are exhausted — emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially.
We’ve cried in our cars, sat awake at night worrying about vet bills, wondering if we can keep saying yes the next time a plea comes in.
We carry the weight of every single one we couldn’t save — and it never gets lighter.
We are doing everything we can to keep the doors open, the lights on, and the dogs happy and healthy.
But the truth is… rescues like ours are hanging on by a thread.
We don’t get government funding.
We don’t have corporate sponsors or endless resources.
We have you — our community, our village, our lifeline.
If you’ve ever donated, volunteered, shared a post, or said a prayer for one of our dogs — you are part of every life we’ve saved.
But right now, we can’t do it alone.
Please, if you can — donate, share, volunteer, or simply remind others that we’re still here fighting.
Because without you, we can’t keep doing this. ❤️🐾
