Update on Darlin! She is doing well and slowly coming around. Still skittish but she will sniff and lick our hands. She is eating well, small portions a couple times a day. She has been introduced to our dogs and the cat and has done well. There of course is some food aggression but only growls. She has enjoyed laying on the porch in the sun.

This is not our typical rescue mission however, we couldn't help but to help when we saw the post in our towns FB group. Our neighbor had a friend who had two possible great Dane mixes take refuge in a current build. Upon our arrival we found to emaciated females. One up and in better shape, the other was extremely emaciated and passed within minutes of us arriving. It took a few hours but we eventually caught the remaining dog. She is scared and skittish. Does not act aggressive but did think about biting. We believe out of fear. We will take the next few days to work with her so we can get her vetted. So far she is being called Darlin. If you would like to help towards her expenses it would be highly appreciated. Just note "For Darlin" as we have rescues horses as well. We also will take any advice from dog rescues!

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that this sweet pony we took in shortly after Halloween decided that is was her time to go. She is no longer in pain and passed on her own terms with delicious grass and lots of love and no expectations. Thank to all who donated towards her care. We still have plenty of equine friends who need the same love and attention.

Well, we couldn't help it... we were contacted Halloween night about a pony needing a rescue badly... she was not free Unfortunately. We are consulting vets and farriers to see if she could have a chance however, we are highly considering last act of kindness. IF she has a chance to at least be a pasture puff, it'll be a long and expensive road. She is late teens to early 20s and it doesn't seem like she has had much training or a kind hand. Whoever chopped her hooves did more damage than good. The left hoof is way too short and bleeds over harder ground. If you would like to help towards her, we appreciate it.

We love the updates we get about Maximus! Maximus was adopted by Loving Steps Riding Academy, Inc. (LSRA) He gives therapeutic riding lessons and he has become one of the horses everyone wants to ride! We are so happy to see one of our rescues living a fulfilling life after the kill pen. All the babies oh man. Looks like this auction has a lot going through it. We would love to keep some out of the kill pens but donations have not been very forthcoming with the economy and rise in hay/feed. We can get a small grant but, they don't give it till AFTER the horse is in your possession.
