This little cutie named Molly was in to see Dr. Smothers and tech Kierra for her puppy vaccines! She's the newest member of the pack for one of our amazing longtime clients. 🩷 She scored the best home! We can't wait to watch her grow. 🥹

We'll be closing at 1 pm this coming Saturday, so be sure to call or get your refill requests in on the app if you need them by the weekend! ⏰️

Dexter came by recently for a bath, nail trim, and a**l gland expression 🫧. After his spa day, he hung out in a comfy bed behind the front desk until his mom came & picked him up 😂💙.

Your dog will have a fun daycation at The Vet House (treats, walks, & pets included 🐶), and you can swing by and pick them up before closing!

Sweet girl Millie was in last week for her annual wellness with blood work and to discuss her allergy medication. She was a little nervous, but squeeze cheese and gentle pets from Dr. Smothers, Kierra, and Nikki made everything better 🧀😂🩷!

No, that's not a dye job on Leo's beard 😅! He ingested some chocolate 🍫 and had to eat something called ToxiBan at the hospital today. At least he's still smiling! 😅

ToxiBan is an activated charcoal product used in veterinary medicine that binds to toxic substances in the digestive tract in an effort to prevent the body from absorbing them. 🚫

With Valentine's Day 💝 coming up, be sure to keep the chocolate treats out of paws' reach! 🐾 See our story for symptoms of chocolate toxicity, and if your pet gets ahold of any, call us ASAP! ☎️

Dr. Jaimes had another interesting case this week! 📋

Cooper is a sweet 10 year old neutered male cat who presented for scratching at his face/ears recently, causing scabby lesions. 🙀

When examining Cooper's ears 🔍 with Bianca, Dr. Jaimes discovered what appears to be Ceruminous Cystomatosis, a rare, non-cancerous disorder in cats that affects the ear ca**l and ear flap. (See the photo of the purple colored bumps inside his ear.) 🧐

For now, the plan is to treat his itchiness and skin irritation with an antibiotic and steroid and recheck him in 2 weeks. His awesome owner says he's taking his meds well! We hope he's already feeling some relief! 😸

Sadie (regrettably) went on a little adventure into the trash 🗑!

Afterward, she was a little shaky and not feeling quite right, leading her owner and our team to the conclusion that she may have ingested something she shouldn't have 😓. (Peep her makeshift ponytail done to keep her ears clean while Dr. Smothers and Jazmin induced vomiting 🤢. So stylish!)

If within a certain time frame of ingestion, the doctor is sometimes able to induce vomiting to determine if there was anything obvious eaten that could be contributing to certain symptoms. (This varies by case.)

We hope Sadie's feeling better already ❤️‍🩹 (and thinks twice about those tempting garbage snacks in the future 😅!)

Buddy was recently adopted from the Richardson Animal Shelter & came in for his first puppy visit with Dr. Jaimes and tech Alexxis. 💙 We can't wait to watch him grow!

Puppy visits are important for laying the groundwork for a healthy dog!

During these visits, the doctor 👩‍⚕️:
●does a full physical exam 🩺
●reviews your pup's previous vaccine & medical history
●begins or updates vaccines 💉
●discusses & prescribes heartworm/parasite prevention and dewormer 🪱
●provides a nail trim if needed 🐾
●answers any questions you may have (about diet, recommended toys, overall wellness, etc.) ❓️

These visits also help to socialize your new puppy & get them used to the veterinary team & hospital! 🐶

Don't forget, we'll be closing at 1pm tomorrow (Saturday 1/25). We're here until 6pm tonight if you need to swing by and pick up meds!

Recently, Dr. Jaimes had an interesting surgery case! Eclipse came in as a foundling during the recent snow storm. His left eye was extremely swollen. The cause of the swelling is unknown due to no known previous medical history, but it was determined that the best plan of action was for Dr. Jaimes to remove the eye in an enucleation procedure. The 2nd image is from Friends of Rescue Animals with an awesome update that Eclipse is happy & healing well! 🥹
