Just a little pre-Thanksgiving reminder...

11/27/2024

It's that time of year again where the pet store shops will be FULL of different chews so you can spoil your pets.

However a lot of the chews are 100% rawhide, or contain rawhide.

Rawhide has so many dangers associated with it, is undigestible, a choking hazard and not even classed as animal food!

This year, before you pick up the rawhide, consider something more natural for your dog, such as deer antler, beef tendos, pizzles, yak milk chew or vegitable chews.

It's Vaccine Clinic time!
We will be doing the vaccine clinic out of our building in West Richland, and it is to be done as a drive through service. We ask everyone to stay in their cars and park in a line behind the building facing towards Enterprise Middle School. Our Low-Income Vaccine Clinic wait times can be anywhere from 30-90 minutes, so please plan accordingly. We thank everyone for their patience!
We will come out to each car and get your contact and pet information, then bring your pet into the building to confirm general health and administer their vaccines, then bring the pet and paperwork back to you. If your patient is new to us, please bring any relevant prior vaccine records with you.
To be eligible to be seen at the Low-Income Vaccine clinic:
- ALL dogs MUST be on a secure collar and leash. Please make sure to bring one with you if your dog is not already wearing it.
- ALL cats MUST be in a carrier or crate. If you do not have one available, you can PURCHASE a cardboard carrier for $7.70.
- ALL pets MUST be in good health. The Low-Income Vaccine Clinic is not designed to treat sick pets. If your pet is ill, please call our center at (509) 578-1729 to schedule an appointment.
Due to the fast pace of our Vaccine Clinic, we are unable to provide other services such as performing toenail trims, prescribing medications or treating health issues including ear infections, dermatitis, or any other conditions.
The clinic will be at our full-service building located at 4900 Paradise Way, Suite 100 in West Richland, WA. Again, please come and line up IN YOUR CAR behind the building so we keep the parking spaces in front of the building open for our other scheduled appointments. There will be signs behind the building to help.
The Low-Income Vaccine Clinic hours for November will be:
Friday, November 1st 9am-1pm
Saturday, November 2nd 9am-1pm
Next Opportunity:
Friday, November 15th 9am-1pm

At English Springer Rescue America (ESRA), we want to remind all our Springer families to be prepared in case of an emergency. Whether it’s a natural disaster, power outage, or unexpected evacuation, taking the right steps can keep your beloved Springer Spaniel safe. Here’s a checklist to make sure you and your pup are ready! 🐕

🔴 1. Pet Emergency Kit
Pack a kit that includes:

🐾 Enough food & water for 5-7 days

🐾 Medications and vet records

🐾 Leash, collar with ID, and a harness

🐾 Waste bags

🐾 Extra toys and blankets to keep them comfortable

🔴 2. Identification
Ensure your Springer is microchipped and wearing a collar with up-to-date tags. Make sure your contact info is current with your vet and microchip provider.

🔴 3. Evacuation Plan
Know where you’ll take your Springer if you need to leave your home. Research pet-friendly shelters, hotels, or ask friends/family outside the immediate area if they can accommodate both of you.

🔴 4. Comfort Your Springer
In stressful situations, Springers may feel anxious. Pack a familiar blanket, favorite toy, or a piece of your clothing to help ease their nerves.

🔴 5. Practice the Plan
Regularly practice your emergency plan with your Springer. This helps you and your dog feel prepared if the time comes. Ensure they are comfortable with their carrier or crate if you’ll need to use one.

🔴 6. Emergency Contacts
Have a list of emergency contacts handy, including your vet, local animal hospitals, and rescue organizations like ESRA.

📝 Preparing now can save precious time in an emergency. Let’s make sure our Springers stay safe, happy, and cared for in every situation. ❤️

Stay safe, Springer families! 🐾
