For those that have messaged me about board, we will have a spot available for a pasture board gelding mid January!

Huge pet peeve and creates a lot of problems! Don't let this happen to your horse!

The long toe, low heel syndrome usually begins with a farrier failing to remove enough toe, creating a forward flare. Biomechanical forces then pull the toe further and further forwards. Long toes put extra strain on tendons, ligaments, joints, and even the horse's back. This stress can cause inflammation in joints leading to irreversible arthritic changes. If your horse has long toes, you may need to find a better farrier! Be proactive in keeping your horse sound!

Fine weather for ducks! Remember this is when your horse is most vulnerable to scratches and thrush, keep those feet and socks clean and dry as much as you can!

Lessons

Word is out about our peaceful farm full of happy, glossy horses. I have received many calls about board this week, we are now full and will not be accepting any horses (except current students who have future plans to purchase) for board. However, lessons are still available and a great way to become part of our community!

We are so excited that Wilber, sadly outgrown by Sara, is on trial with Empire Equestrian of Rocky Point! Mackenzie Ring has known Wilber for years, and shared some pictures with us from when he was younger. Wilber will be teaching a few of her lesson students all about riding hunter/jumpers!

Short clip from Sara's first lesson on Cisco!

Sailor and Wilber out on the winter rye this morning. If you are looking for a well managed boarding facility with zero drama, adequate grazing, safe fencing (this is RAMM poly coated wire) and many extras give us a call! Currently accepting geldings for pasture board, we would love to hear from you!

Welcome to Sara Butlers new steed, Cisco! Cisco is a 12 year old registered paint with hundreds of trail miles under his belt. We are excited to see this team grow together!

After two emergency visits to the vets to be tubed, 15 bags of fluids, and three very nervous days at the farm I am hopeful Misty has now pulled out of colic. We are very thankful to our boarders Sara and Rebecca who have helped so much... and I am also very thankful for Corey's paramedic skills and willingness to assist at all hours of the night that made administering the IV fluids at home significantly less stressful.

As a side note, Dr. Emily at Carolina Coastal Equine spent 8+ hours working on Misty this weekend.I have no doubt that without the immediate treatment she received Misty would not be here today. Do not wait if you suspect colic, call your vet immediately!
