K9 Training For Service Members

K9 Training For Service Members This was about service dog work. But unfortunately it is no longer going on. Training a dog to this level can help handlers transition to civilian life.

The PROGRAM DESIGN of K9TSM is designed to maximize the therapeutic benefits of dog training to the Service members who participate, and provide each with a well trained therapy or service dog. Our purpose is to enhance the recovery of each Service member through dog training by providing each handler with a personalized training plan. Training plans are developed by the handler and a PROFESSIONAL

trainer, incorporating personal goals for training either a personal therapy dog, which assists in recovery, or a Service dog that preforms service tasks necessary to improve quality of life. Participants are Veterans who have sustained combat related injuries: Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), other mental injuries, and physical injuries

The THERAPY DOG program is designed to teach service members (handlers) how to train their own dogs to be personal therapy dogs. This program " provides the opportunity for motivational, recreational, and/or therapeutic benefits" (Delta Society) gained from dog training for handlers who suffer from PTSD and TBI. Dog training and its therapeutic qualities can help with recovery, and eventual return to duty. The SERVICE DOG Training program is designed to teach handlers how to train their own dogs to be full public access service dogs. This program provides the opportunity for handlers to train their dogs to the service dog level and EXCEED the Assistance Dog Internaitonal minimum requirements.

This page has been left up and open for those that participated in this particular group to see where they have come from with their pups/dogs and be able to reflect. There's no and we mean no ill intention of any kind being said.

Out of respect for those that were in this group is the reason I'm keeping this site open. So that they may go back and look at what they have accomplished.

This organization was created to help those injured with PTSD and a TBI. Do to circumstances this organization no longer is active. I am leaving the pictures up for the public and for those who deserve to see what a dog can do for people.

K9 Training For Service Member's is no longer an active organization. If you see any dog wearing a bandanna that has this name on it. This is a fraud organization.

One of our veterans just had surgery. Her Service dog in training turned one today and was working hard helping her handler get around. Adele is calm and heels so well there is no worry of her pulling her handler over, even while using crutches.

We have a bake sale happening tomorrow from 10:00 to 2:00 at the Piggly Wiggly in Richlands. Come out and get some wonderful food and see some of our puppies and dogs. This is to help those injured during war time get supplies they need for their service dogs.
Hope to see everyone out there.

As Well as being a mobility assistant, Adele is being trained for seizure response. When her Handler "loses consciousness " Adele barks, paws her. and lays beside her until handler "wakes up".

Adele is one of our students. Here she is being a perfect citizen for her handler on an airplane. Good job Adele.
